Well, the mini is a BMW under a different name, so yes the Mini is definately cheapening the BMW brand.

The only reason the A2 didn't sell well was because of its high cost to build, leading to a high price. Why buy an A2 when you could get an A3 for a little more? The new one most likely won't be built out of aluminum, to keep the costs down. Sales will be much better.

I've been to Europe and 90% of the cars are small and this A1 will one of the nicer offerings.

Yeah I know because the average Euro driver has 2 to 3 minor accidents on a daily basis with those narrow streets.

Dude, do you actually life in Europe to say whether or not this car will sell in Europe. I live in the little country Belgium and I can guarantee you that these car will sell. To whom? For a lot of families this type of car is used as the second car. The only problem that Volkswagen Audi Group has is agressive pricing strategy. This model and then especially the models with a Diesel engine would propably cost around €20,000 which is about $23,000 If I am not mistaken. With an average income of €2,500 to €3,000 / month per household this is a sh!tload of money. In the end it is these type of cars will be the next family cars since the real family cars become unaffordable unless we buy a fugly japanese car whose designs nobody likes here but hey, they are cheap and reliable!

1. It has the extremely boring standard A8 rims. Those won't be the rims it's available with, and those wheels can make any car look boring, except the A8.

europe is the most committed nation/group to climate change, we emply far more renewable resources than anyone, we know when we don't need a giant SUV to ferry around 2 kids, we have a great health and public transport system, we have a wide variety of natural resources and yes france does have to most successful commercial space program. loads of satellites are launched by france.

Yes-They probably will sell 100,000 per yr.Will they drive as well as a Mini. Probably not. The last reasonably priced sporty car VW/Audi made was the 89-94 VW Corrado. The current Golf GTI is certainly an improvement. For some reason it has not translated over to the A3. Is Audi cabable of making a good handling driving reasonably priced car. The answer is yes they are. It's a matter of how motivated they are to do so. Their car interior's are the best in the industry for the price. Also Audi has been on a sales rise and have sold a record # of cars in the US. No they have not been the best handling car and they do suffer from too much understeer.However each successve model is an improvement. With the new shortened transmission allowing them to move the engine further back to improve weight distribution this should help handling.(A4-A8) All Euro companies have struggled to sell low priced (below $30,000)cars in the US. BMW has suceeded with Mini. Now Volvo has a shot with it's C30. If Audi markets the car right they might have a chance with the A1.It will sell if people like the styling and interior. It may not be the best handler.So what. Even BMW has softened the 07 Mini in that department in order to give it a better ride.

i'm not a lefty, but i think this couty's system works very well, but the attitude to america and to europe has changed massivley in recent years. america is now almost HATED by british people, for dragging us into iraq, for leading on tony blair and for have dubya as president. europe is going up massivley, thanks to the great work ethos of eastern europeans, who come to france, germany and britain to work as plumbers and builders and things.
