New Navigation System Guarantees No Speeding Tickets

Made only for the UK at the moment, a new satellite navigation system guarantees no speeding tickets from speed camera. The Rossini Navigation system is offering to pay any driver £60 that gets a ticket if the system does not give a warning ahead of time. The navigation system covers 270,000 miles of road and is capable of spotting over 24,000 speed detecting cameras throughout UK and Ireland. If a speed camera is detected the Rossini Navigation system gives the driver a warning on its touchscreen saying “Beware - watch your speed” with an image of the upcoming speed camera and the speed limit in the area 500 meters before its location. The Rossini Navigator costs £399 delivered in the UK.

About three years ago I decided I had a great idea.

Combine GPS with a radar/laser detector with wireless data network (cellular) to share radar alerts information with other drivers, making the "instant on" game a lot tougher for cops.

When any radar detector of this kind acquires a signal, it transmits the location of the radar signal to a central server which then shares this information, real-time with other drivers near by, long before they approach the location of the radar. A manual "alert" could also be triggered when someone spots a police officer.

False radar signals would be filtered since they are constant and repetitive, and their signature (precise frequency) would be known.

This real-time sharing of cop locations and radar signatures would be a huge leap in improvement over existing radar detectors.

So I went out to get a patent, but it was already patented in 2001. Since there are no products that use this, I suspect this patent is simply "parked" by the radar gun manufactures to prevent marketing of countermeasures.

But when this patent expires... LOOK OUT!!!

Uhm, my 4 year old hp ipaq bluetooth navi has a speed alert feature, it screams at me if I move faster than the speed it knows for the road.

Now the question is, will the Rossini people pay the increased insurance premiums after the speeding ticket?
