Audi A6: Number One in Class for German Sales First 10 Months
The Audi A6 has solidified it's number 1 position in sales for it's category in Germany with 52.299 registrations in the first 10 months.

With the trend so far this year it seems highly unlikely that it will fall to either BMW or Mercedes Benz in sales this year.

Atleast Audi's look expensive. The ES, IS, and LS all look like big, cheap, imitations--typical Jap fashion.

The comment of Audi drivers not been able to afford BMW is very tragic and wrong.
Ironically, Audis in general are more expensive than their BMW rivals.

That night I went to the Beverly Hills Hilton and when I went to park my car the Vallets were all drooling over my car. The comment " this is my favorite car"

Point is the car is a good looking car. What GS, E Class, or 5 series looks better? Can we stop the flame wars

And, on the contrary, I think Lexus models look too different, especially the SUVs. The RX, GX, and LX might as well come from different brands. They need to set a design theme (not the shroud of L-Finesse crap) and go with it.

The point was to address the fact that A6 sales in the US may be low, but that is a direct contrast to how the car performs internationally (China, Germany).

How does Lexus do internationally again?

Audi will sell more A6's in Germany than Lexus will in all of Europe.

And the ES and RX are luxury cars only because Lexus/Toyota has trained the auto press to call them such, even though they're the cheapest cars in their respective classes and not stylistically different from either their Toyota counterparts, or a Buick.

The A4, 3 series, or C-class are the least expensive cars in the their lineups, but atleast they don't share platforms/borrow from any lower cars.

ES & RX share from the Camry.

A quick glance under the hood of an Audi and items from the VW parts bin can be spotted.

Platform sharing does not equate to an inferior product, despite the elitist attitudes expressed here. The car itself is what is important.

"A quick glance under the hood of an Audi and items from the VW parts bin can be spotted."

Well, #1, I've been confused as to why you're a car enthusiast. You seem to dislike all cars- but you hate Audi with a fervor.

On the VW engines... and that's not a bad thing. The only engines that they use that are currently shared with Audi are the 2.0T and the 3.2, which were both Audi-developed. The differences is, the 2.0T A4 is the lowest-end of the spectrum, while the 2.0T Jetta GLI/GTI is the HIGH-END Volkswagen.

AUDIMAN4AUDIMAN4 - 12/5/2006 1:23:31 AM

Starting from a VW platform wouldn't be a bad thing--VW's are already more highend than Toyota's. But still despite this, Audi's A4, A6, and Q7 share much less in common with a VW than the Lexus ES and RX do.

So, the truth is that the Audi A6 easily outsells the BMW 5 series and MB E class in Germany. Which is great news. I think Germans know what a good car is, and they know that the A6 is a great car.

Chewy, the A6 is significantly cheaper than the BMW and MB in Germany. Most cars in this class sold in Europe are smaller engined models and Audi's have always been cheaper in that regard (with their entry level engines).

The import taxes/tariffs are an enormous hurdle in europe to enable japanese or US cars to compete there, typically around a 25% jump or more depending on it's configuration. This gives effectively narrows the competition in the sedan class down to German, in Germany anyway.

you can do this at a discount.. ask Toyota how they accomplish this in the US.. Fact remains, that an A6 (yes in germany) sells for a discount over the comparably equipped 5 series. No question.

No, that's really not all we say.

But it is funny that such a big deal is made about Audi selling the most in Germany, but when Lexus' strong sales are mentioned some place else it is poo-pooed as being inconsequential.

AUDIMAN4AUDIMAN4 - 12/4/2006 10:40:08 PM

That's because continued Lexus popularity in the US will hurt the brand in the long run. Audi, BMW, and MB are already established internationally, so when Audi breaks sales records, they merely strengthen their image.

Lexus, seen by many as a knockoff, and accomplishing their sales goals with Camry-derived cars, simply is not on the same level.

Talk when Lexus sells internationally.

answeranswer - 12/4/2006 11:27:42 PM

The popularity of Lexus in America will impact Lexus global sales in the same way that the European useage of Mercedes affects U.S. sales of MB's cars. By that I mean not much at all.

I really wish all this stupid debate would stop. The way people can go on and on and provide evidence to show whatever their point of view might be only proves one thing: there is no "right" opinion.

Yup its electronics did have a rep for being "ummmm" a bit dodgy .. but its the European Scoobie.. Unfortunately they suffer peer envy in the US as BMW and MB are "percieved" as far more premier brands... In the end, the "one" who confers status on any particular brand is "YOU".

Anytime Audi outdoes BMW you're always making up excuses as to why Audi pulled out the win. You'll even go as far as flat out lying to dicredit Audi. I'm not a doctor but the denial game your playing in your own head must not be healthy!

Further more you want to talk about math...Aren't you the moron that came seem to realize that Audi's most expensive model is more expensive than BMW's, therefore rulling out the argument of Audi being a 'poor-mans Bimmer'!

BAN "AMAZING BIMMER" NOW!!! This isn't coming from a Benzo fanatic, Audi or Lexus....It's coming from a fellow hard-core Bimmer fan.
