Audi A5: Set for Spring Debut!

Audi will complete its promised trio of coupes in March with the introduction at the Geneva Motor Show of the A5 coupe. It will be joined in 2008 by the Q5 compact 4x4.

The announcement was made at the Los Angeles motor show yesterday as the company unveiled the new TT Roadster.

The soft-top TT, which has the same aluminium-and-steel lightweight space-frame body construction as the recently arrived TT coupe, goes on sale in March at £26,915 with a 2.0-litre turbo engine and front-wheel drive, or £31,535 with a 3.2-litre V6 and quattro four-wheel drive.

Not surprising they'd get it out so fast. When you make every car the same, it's pretty easy. Audi is the Mexican food of cars. It's all the same ingredients.

Well-You could say that there are a lot of similarities with Mercedes models as well. And what about Porsche. When the Boxter and the 996 911 came out they shared 40% of their parts. And when you been in one 1 Bimmer interior you've seen them all.Oh and let's look at Volvo,each model is a cookie cutter of another. My point here is that Audi is not alone in this. Everybody serves Mexican. Alright let's go to Japan. Same thing except their it;s Sushi.

Looking forward to it. Cars sharing many parts is a good thing, soon the A4/A5/Q5/A6/A8 will all be based on the new common Audi platform. This allows for quicker car development and less costs while improving the driving and other aspects of the vehicles. Great news.

In fact this is where most car makers are going these days to save on development costs. The art or challenge is in making 1 model look different from another while clearly sharing the same DNA link that they come from the same manufactorer.

just to say, look at those british prices.
31000 for a 3.2 roadster. it ain't cheap (thats about 58000 dollars)

The A5 is the coupe- but yes, the Q5 SUV (X3 competitor) will prompt BMW to give it a refresh! It's supposedly (the Q5) going to be unveiled by the end of 2007. One thing that will differentiate it from the pack of small luxury SUVs is that you can get it with a V8.
