More 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid Images

Is it just me or does this look like a car that a three year old would draw with crayons?:)

Toyota has the only hybrid that uses a gas engine to back up the eletri motor which makes it a true hybrid. If this Yukon has the similar technology maybe it is worth looking at, other wise is worthless !!!

This is the same concept as Toyota, however, GM tweaked the idea by featuring the "2 mode" setup. Where it operates more efficiently if your doing city or highway driving

this isn't even a concept... this is real. it's going to be in dealerships at the end of 2007. GM will also be launching the Chevrolet Taho Hybrid in 2007.

Anyone remember the Silverado Hybrid? I think it hit the market in 2003 or 2004.

Yeah..first of all, those hyrids were lame and GM put ZERO marketing behind it. Trust me, GM put wayy to much money behind these models to not promote them. And judging on just how quick the Saturn VUE Green line is selling, I think GM will have no issue selling a "full hybrid" model to the public.

you mean the "hybrids" that got all of 1 or 2 mpg more than the regular models?

the one whose BIGGEST claim to fame, was having an a/c outlet for power tools? that made it a hybrid?

Hybrids or diesels are not the solution for these types of cars. The solution is to stop producing them.

Yes, I dislike SUV's with a passion. Especially such oversized fat pigs like the Yukon. Waste of resources...

You do have a point. A gas guzzler tax for them should be mandatory. Cars with their fuel economy get big gas guzzler taxes but the SUVs with the same bad fuel economy don't.

Yukons are NOT pigs. My mom drives one and they are comfy, spacious, and have a great ride. They are actually not one of the worst cars and SUVS are actualyl safe compared to those little hybrids.

and does your mom ever haul anything more than a week's worth of groceries in that 5000+ lb behemoth?

if its her daily driver, she's part of the REASON so many people consider those pigs a gross waste of resources. and rightfully HATE them.

BTW, there are no EPA estiamtes or even hints at fuel economy ratings as the EPA will have a new stadard in 2008 that will drop milage for all cars, BUT hybrids will get hit the hardest. So the new EPA test should replicate real life fuel economy difference between hybrids and normal engines and not in a lab setting. I think that the hybrid most likely gets 15% better fuel economy at best when driven like a normal car would, so I don't expect a full 25% increase.

You people that dislike full size SUV’s need to get a clue. Yes there are some full size SUV’s that should had never been built but when you start yapping about the new GM SUV’s saying that they get terrible gas mileage then all you are doing is showing how little you really know. The Tahoe and Yukon get 16/21. Which is pretty good for a big SUV. The Hybrids will get even better. Now lets talk about the small SUV’s the ones that you “think” get better gas mileage. The BMW gets 16/18. The Lexus Gets 15/18. The Dodge gets 14/16 even with the V6. The Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4 Runner gets 15/18. The Toyota Tacoma which is not an SUV but a small truck gets 16/18 with the V6.
Now of coarse we need to put pressure on the auto makers to try to get the vehicles to get better gas mileage but the next time you start crying about something just because you don’t like it do some research first that way you don’t look like a big cry baby.
A waste of resource? Hmm a choice between having a small SUV that gets 15/18 and you can not fit 5 or 6 people in and all your camping gear or a big SUV that gets 16/21 and you can fit 5-6 people in and all your camping gear and a couple of dogs. Geee what’s the waste of resource now? Duhhhhhhh

why do people ned all that space? why don't americans get the smaller engines? insetad of a tahoe, why not an MPV or a 7 seat e class? why get an SUV at all? get a wagon, its cheaper to buy and run, is more practical, handles better, has better mileage etc.
a 530 touring gets 24 mpg, and x5 3.0 gets 17 mpg. why buy the x5? there is literally no point.
need 7 seats? i give you the renault espace 2.2 dci. way more spacious than any SUV, and with the 2.2 dci (diesel) engine, gets 29 mpg! AND its quicker to 60 than a 4.7 litre toyota land cruiser, which gets 14 US mpg! a citroen C8, another MPV, with the 2.2 hdi engine gets 32 mpg! these cars are 7 seaters, and can carry luggage!
people needing big cars i can understand, but nobody needs a 5 litre+ V8 in their SUV, we cope perfectly well in the uk with smaller diesels. and really very few people need an SUV.
nb mpg figures are UK tests converted to US mpg. it is an average of urban/extra urban.

it's true, my friend has a old model Yukon Denali with a 6.0 V8 and it gets the same mileage as my Pathfinder, which is half the size and has a 3.5 V6. These big trucks from GM get decent mileage considering their mass.

I agree that if you need the room you should try to just buy a mini van or something like it with a small motor so you can svae gas and help the enviroment. But here in America especialy in the Northwest we need the space and the V8 because we go camping alot and a lot of the time when we do go camping we are Hunting or Fishing which may require a boat or trailer. Then we also have the people who tow there horse trailers around. A small engine wont do those things and whats nice about it these days is that even with a big v8 you get about the same gas milage pulling or hauling nothing as you do pulling or hauling something big.
Just another good reason why I love living here.
If i had the money I would have a mini van or suv with a small engine just to run around town in. But i am not even close to being rich.

oh obviously budget constrains it, an old SUV is prabably one of the best tow vehicles you can afford, BUT i hate it when you see all these mothers in 8 seat yukons and escalades taking 2 children to school. in the uk that problem exists too, but often people have a smaller car too, hence the success of the merc a class, the a3 and the 1 series. richer people want a smaller car for cities.
random fact: the reason why merc created the gl? people with 2 children wanted more space, so basically mls are driven by people with only 1 child. inefficient or what?

People should not have a big SUV unless they really need it. I hate it also when I see soccer moms driving these big rigs. Lie that things ever going to see off road or tow something. Its sad for the truck :(
