Volkswagen Tiguan Will Get Diesel in US

It is now confirmed that Volkswagen will be releasing the Volkswagen Tiguan with the 2.0 Liter “Clean TDI” BLUETEC diesel engine in the US. At its initial launch in 2007 the car will debut with its gasoline engine. The TDI BLUETEC engine will debut later in 2007 or beginning of 2008.

Great news. 140 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque and most likely most fuel efficient SUV on the road. Great.

Because By that time this comes out,the 93MPG Toyota prius would also be ready.

This isn't an economy car nor is it ready to challenge anyone in the off road arena, although for people that want a cross over car it will be competitive with the rest of the cross over cars.I am just anticipating them advertising some yuppie in his polo shirs splashing through puddles (gigiling) claiming this as some off road king.This engine is a step in the right direction.I like this as a car.
