Buick is "Da Bomb" in China

Americans drivers have been cooling on Buicks for years, sending sales spiraling downward.

The opposite is true on the other side of the world, where the vehicles' popularity has helped General Motor's Corp's Buick brand hit an unusual milestone.

The distinctly American brand has sold more vehicles this year in China -- the world's fastest-growing major automobile market -- than in the United States.

The landmark, reached this fall, is a good-news-bad-news for phenomenon for Buick and GM.

The Chinese like to ride in a soft & quiet ride. Buick's are actually quite luxurious and for the price you pay it's a bargain. Now having that said, i'd never buy one. The only GM luxury car maker i'd buy from is Cadillac (esp. the new Escalade).

before buick fans crow too much over this, they should be informed that most of those chinese buicks are actually rebadged DAEWOOs. with some OPELS in the mix.

not that buick is not a (somewhat) respected name. but gm is just being a slut, indiscriminately slapping badges on korean and other cheap cars. gm just panders to badge whores everywhere. even to cheap tricks who're satisfied with the chevy badge.

i used to work a few offices down from the prez of our whole statewide univ. system.

he drove an Olds 98. with the outside mirror held on with duct tape. (LOL!)

but actually, he had nothing to do with the vehicle choice. the U provided it as part of the salary.

(previous car was a Maxima wagon. not bad for its time.)

Well from what I have read, the people of China really like the stylin of American cars and not so much of the stylin of the car from Japan.. its a very young market and as it grows it will change at a very fast pace.
