What Marquee is VW Considering Selling?

The future of Volkswagen's troubled Seat subsidiary will be more uncertain than ever under Martin Winterkorn, the incoming chairman of the Spanish carmaker's parent company, Volkswagen group.

Consideration is being given to separating the Spanish brand from VW and selling it, executives close to Winterkorn told Automobilwoche.

In his current position as Audi CEO, Winterkorn is responsible for Seat, which is part of the Audi brand group. Winterkorn already is omitting Seat from his current planning.

They don't need SEAT at all, but I think Skoda is even weaker. They're both too close to VW in terms of content and pricing.

Yeah but the difference is, Skoda uses mostly older VAG technology like the chassis of the old Passat, the old 2.8 VR6/1.8T and the likes. In return it's the cheapest brand.
Whereas Seat uses the more up to date technology for somewhat less then their VW counterparts.

i think skoda is the stronger brand. seat is in a confusing position, can't be too good, step on vw toes, can be too bad step on skoda's. can't be too cheap or expensive for the sam reasons. chuck seat, make vw cheaper and sportier.

Larry-Where did you get the idea that Audi was weak? Why would Porsche,the worlds most profitable car company be interested in possibly separating out Audi from VW(only according to rumours)? The reason is that ITS NOT A WEAK COMPANY!!!. It's setting sales records. Did you have your cup of coffee this morning? Thats ok.. Perhaps tommorow your brain will work a little better. Make sure you drink that coffee before you get on line.
