Can you guess what Mike Denton, star of Desperate Housewives drives?
At the 2006 LA Auto Show, 001 got a chance to spend some time chatting with Mike Denton, star of the runaway hit Desperate Housewives.

During our conversation I asked him what car HE drives and how he liked it.

He said he was driving the new Audi Q7 and that he absolutely loved it.

Now I don't know if Audi gave it to him but his enthusiasm seemed very genuine.

He was also a really classy and humble man so we give him the 'AutoSpies.com approved' moniker.

Finally, his color choice?

Lava Gray Pearl Effect.

Lava Grey is stunning on the Q7. Good choice!

I certainly hope he got the 19" rims, and not the ones shown in the picture. Those are beautiful.

I'm glad he likes his Audi, two thirds of Audi owners don't like their vehicles enough to buy another Audi. Statistics suggest his next vehicle will not be an Audi.

I hope you guys mean the 20" wheels. The 19's pictured don't look too bad, but after seeing Q7's all day, there is no bigger change I've seen on a car just from the wheels. The Q7 with 19" wheels looks like dog crap run over twice. The 20" design makes the Q7 a very attractive SUV.

If BMW gave him a new X5 he would love it, if M-Benz gave him a GL he would love it, hell I bet he would even love a Cadillac SRX if he got it for free.

But if Acura gave him an MDX, he wouldn't like it very much.

I sincerely believe that he bought the car himself.

You're right...but, I'm a pretty good judge of character and he was genuinely impressed and went into way more detail than the average star about the finite parts that he was impressed with...so I think he really meant it.

i respect lexus for their reliability but their suv's are all dated... the only one close to the Q7 would be the GX and even that one is really underpowered... and it wouldn't hurt lexus to be a bit more cutting edge in their styling.. very bland... esp. the RX

RX and LX have places in Lexus's lineup... but GX?! What?

lexus dude3, u are so arogant and pathetic. Lexus is no where near any of the german brands yet. Soon they will be, but for now, they are still for wanna be enthusiasts who just care about the name. They are nice cars yes, but don't overexaggerate how good it is to make urself feel superior. Reason is what you need. Go visit logical.

There is no way Audi gave him a Q7 for free, he paid full price because he can and the Q7 had just come out.

Did I mention that a rebadged Toyota is still better than a German car? No? Well they are. And also an Audi is an expensive Volkswagen. Just thought you oughta know.

I never said German design was bad. In fact, I think that German design is really good for cars. But, unfortunately, they dress the outside up to cover what's on the inside, a piece of crap.

I absolutely love this SUV.

I'm afraid we enthusiasts get our heads caught in the gutter sometimes fellas (and ladies, blueice). Just because we favor a particular brand doesn't mean we can't appreciate a good car when we see one, and the Q7 is a great one. And so are the rest of them. I think that all the companies are developing great vehicles for this segment.

Now if they started making larger rims stock rather than optional, then we wouldn't have people driving around with small rims on nice cars/suvs which make them look less expensive than they are.

One thing I've learned is that, if it's included in the price, then the consumer is glad to have it. If it's optional, they will think twice. So what, mark up the price a few hundred dollars, make the larger rims standard, sell it, and you have a very happy consumer with a vehicle that represents the brand image.

oh will, i thought i'd say, i like the lexus LS460 now. but there isn't any mention of a LWB on the UK site, which is a bit odd. but then again the best sellers here are the SWB and the LS has lots of space anyway.
the interior trim is different for europe, i'm sure. the Sat-nav screen surround is dark grey not silver, and one major reason i like is the option of white leather (i know it's a bit pimptastic), which merc do but only designo. their site is really good too.

Will, to answer your questions regarding fake leather and interior bits, Audi and Mercedes offer cloth or leatherette seating in their vehicles as well. It is by no means BMW-specific. I'm not sure why leatherette is such a problem for you, I don't think cloth is any better than fake leather, which at least "seems" high class. BMW offers cloth as well, just not in the U.S. (except on the already discontinued M3).

Yes "Designo" is a ridiculous $7,000 for what's basically a different interior color.

The Amaretto interior on the A8 is better than any Designo I've ever seen, and it doesn't cost a penny extra. It's a shame all manufacturers aren't that generous.

I'll say this once: Lexus is a great brand. They don't appeal to everyone because they might not be as sporty or passionate, but they lead in certain areas, important areas.

Audi gave one to footballer David Beckham - I read they were pretty unhappy that he laoded it with $40K of options!

Days after thieves stole his armor-plated BMW X5 by using high-tech software to start the car's engine electronically, soccer star David Beckham was given a set of free wheels by Audi.

The German automaker loaned Beckham a loaded Q7 for one year on the condition that he drive it to practice every day.

Beckham picked a Q7 4.2 FSI in phantom black with pearl-effect paint, a black leather interior, a car phone, a flat-screen TV, a Bose stereo, satellite navigation and keyless entry. The Daily Record in Scotland said the car is worth an estimated $125,000. Real Madrid's star players get an Audi each year as part of the club's sponsorship deal with the automaker.
