Revenge of the Germans: Mercedes GL 420 CDI vs. Range Rover TDV8

I dont know who writes the truth.British review favours a range rover and a German one also gives victory to the GL.Well, to me it shows that one should have to test-drive before buying a car.It also shows that mag reviews are mostly subjective.i would like to say that i'm somebody who has admiration for all cars i deem good regardless of make.But in the case of the GL vs range rover,i'm inclined to think that the GL wont win in England.Not least because it's German or men like Jeremy Clarkson are campaigning against it, though Jeremy's bits will go against it.The problem with the GL is its seating arrangement in right hand drive form .It is not convenient at all.In short it's not safe.I live in the UK and so far i've seen only one GL whereas every weekend i see a Q7.As for size and gas guzzling the range rover is even less practical and more guilty.And there are many bigger cars than the GL that are driven on UK roads and parked at our car parks that attract no complaints whatsoever.As to which one is better, i have a feeling that the range rover has met its real match even if the British wont admit.

me too, i see loads of Q7s, they've suddenly become the chelsea tractor of choice.

i like the gl soo much its big and nice!
