Acura V8 Engine In Progress

If Acura offered this rumored V8 in the RL and the MDX, the two models would see skyrocketing sales figures.

...or image an up-level Accord or Pilot with a detuned version of the V8...interesting.

Yes, Acura would definitely see their sales increase dramatically with a V-8 engine. I wonder what took them so damn long to figure it out though. Honda was so against a V-8 before that Executive VP Dick Colliver was quoted once as saying, "The only time you'll see a V8 in an Acura showroom is in the refrigerator(the drink)." This simple lack of a V-8 has really set them back.
But they also have to go further and restyle the current RL, TSX, and TL in the same way they did the RDX and new MDX. They also need to get away from the front wheel drive image.
For Acura to really play with the luxury big boys, they need to 1. offer a V-8 2. Totally restyle the exteriors of the current sedan lineup, especially the RL 3. offer SH-AWD on every Acura 4. Offer a true Acura flagship to battle the Lexus LS460, BMW7 series, etc...
Acura fans know that once Acura gets it's act together, they will give Lexus a run for it's money.

Or maybe a honda that needs it, the ridgeline. Or maybe a mid-engined, all wheel drive two seater v8 powered Honda fit.

I really think Acura should resurrect the old naming of their cars. Bring back the "Integra", "Legend", "Vigor" names so the company can stand out.

I wish Acura would return with a coupe as well.

I think they seriously in need of a convertable as well.

You are right my friend about the Legend. I think it was the best looking Acura ever designed. The car in itself was a legend and remained that to this day.

Especially the coupe. Now that was a beautiful Acura.
I hope Acura fired who ever design the RL and their current designers, because now is not the time to let some freaks with pony tail messing things up, like that ugly concept he came up with.

1995e34...I respect your opinion about the design of the TL, but it happens to be Acura's best selling model ever, on an annual basis.

Acura will be going to SH-AWD thru their entire lineup. This AWD system gives it a rear wheel drive feel in highspeed turns and it will work very well with V8 power.

They have been testing a V8 in the Ridgeline and also the RL for over a year. Acura has always wanted to give you the most with the least. They always wanted to give people V8 power with a V6 powerplant...ie the 300 hp 07 MDX. I'm glad to see that they've finally realized that this philosophy is not working for their image.

Its all image. It doesn't matter how many V8s they would sell, it just matters when there's a comparison test of premium performance luxury sedans, Acura would be represented with a V8 powered SH-AWD vehicle.

Considering Honda/Acura is the number one engine building company in the world, I'm sure it would be at or near the top in power output.

BRING BACK THE LEGEND NAME IN THE US MARKET, STICK A 330HP V8 IN IT, AND ME AND OVER 100K PEOPLE WILL GET ONE IN THE FIRST YEAR.

Funny, because I really like Honda.

But the TSX, TL, RL, and MDX all seem so boring in comparison with their German and Japanese competitors.

The TL ASPEC does not look like a boring car. It's an understated car with understated luxury. It's not as flashy as it's competitors which is what some consumers want. It's like Audi buyers who want luxury like a MB but not in a cocky flashy way. The CSX, RL, TSX needs to be restyled though to compete with its competitors. Acura needs to get rid of the RL and TSX and build a large V8 saloon to replace the RL and a good luxury V6/V8 coupe to replace the TSX.

It's sad to say that the only Acura coupe/sports car was the NSX which was over priced from the get-go. If Acura builds a premium cars that compete with the Lexus and Infiniti's. Their current image is too bland.

The NSX should have cost between 80-90K instead. You look at it's interior it's nothing crazy about it compared to it's competitors. It was light and performed quite well but for the price they offered you could get an SL500 or 6series which would ride more comfortably. Having said that the NSX would be unique and definately rare since not a lot of people bought one.

It's just the interior was rubbish. In order for Acura to really be in the big leagues they'll need to bring back the NSX in a big way and revamp their line up with more upscale materials/parts and have better marketing.

Nothing tops the last Legend Coupe. That car was and still is beautiful to this day. Everytime I see one on the road, I stop and stare. They don't make full-sized luxury coupes like that any more and that's a shame.

The Legend Sedan/Coupe is still beautiful I must agree. It's rare to see those still running on the streets but when you see one it's like "WOW THAT CAME OUT HOW MANY YEARS AGO?"
