Lexus LS460L awarded the CNET's Editors' Choice
The Lexus LS 460 L is the best car we've seen. We can't put it any more bluntly than that. It checks off all the tech boxes, then goes and adds some new ones. The company's flagship sedan is a genius piece of work, combining technologies that contribute to a comfortable ride with the ability to tear down the roads and take the curves. And it does it all with amazingly good fuel economy, given the size of this thing and its competition.

The good: The 2007 Lexus LS 460 L is a hit on all fronts, with live traffic on its navigation system, a hard drive for storing music, a self-parking system, a smooth-shifting and smart eight speed automatic transmission, decent fuel economy, and a dozen more useful high-tech features that all work well.

The bad: Navigating the music library could be a bit better.

The bottom line: With plenty to wow us, there's very little we can find at fault with the 2007 Lexus LS 460 L. It comes up to par with other luxury sedans in its class, then beats them all with a substantially lower price.

bulldogz, I am a real estate agent and I bought the laser printer because I print 2 or 3 hundred flyers and I also print the envelopes with mail merge, but the printer mangles the envelopes eventhough they are laser priner approved.

I couldn't resist, but are you in the automobile business? Anyone is qualified to give a review on a car as long as you drive. I'm pretty sure most of us that post on this site consider ourselves enthusiasts, but does that qualify us to comment. It's all subjective. I take it that you're not a Lexus fan.

Did they spend time checking that self-parking system that doesn't really work the way it should? This thing as a lot of problems, such as trying to park the car on top of another, on top of trees.

10/10 is too much, I think.

The LS is a fine car, a great contender in this class and certainly up there with the best, but it does seem have poor brakes. Every review, except CNET, has mentioned this (don't forget the GS too).

I would have given it an 8.5 or a 9/10.

The designe could be a bit more with personnality. I told before, i drove this car and i realy liked it. The interior is abosolutely a jewel but the exterior could be for sur better. I would prefer to see the new LS with more comfirmed look. Anyway it's not ugly at all!

CNET? Who is CNET? Anyone? Save $30k and go get you an Audi S4, they gave it a 9 out of 10. And you'll get to where your going faster. That's the whole point ain't it. Who cares if it parks by itself, which takes about 35 minutes. You'll have all the bells and whistles you need with the best German technology Germany has to offer. Second thought, you better not. This car actually allows someone to feel the road. The steering is not numb and you will actually hear the engine. I'm sorry, what was I thinking.

CNET is becoming quite a good source for car reviews, and not at all biased towards one make or country of origin. Hence an S4 getting 9 stars and an LS getting 10. Any objective reveiwer should agree within a point about those scores.

Can't we all agree that there is no absolute objective measure for something so personal as a "driving experience"?

For every man who LOVES the sound of a Ferrari engine screaming to redline, there are 2 other men who complain the engine is too loud. No differently, for every man who loves the quiet serenity of a high speed cruise in the LS460, there are bunch of Europeans who complain that it has no "soul".

People, it's hopeless to argue that any single car is the "best" simply because everybody has a differing set of priorities and measures when it comes to enjoying a car.

My wife loves speed, handling, and vroom vroom and is willing to give up the occasional trip to the dealer, thus, she drives a BMW 330Ci. However, her friends are completely happy in their Lexus ES350, but there is no way she will ever buy a ES350 despite the raves from her gals.

CNET is lame. I installed some "CNET Approved and recconended" software. Well, that POS messed up my computer. If they fail at computers I don't trust them with something that can kill you. I bet they didn't test the braking and don't know that the Lexus LS has horrible brakes (Horrible as in quite possibly the worst brakes of any production passanger car out todau, a pickup with drum brakes stops better)

It won't. The consumer should not be forced to buy better tires (after they bought the bad ones) Lexus is unlikely to put the sport tires as standard as that would be very un Lexus like. Face the facts, the Lexus LS 460 has terrible braking distance.

"XeroKOOL" while tires do make a big difference, they don't change the dynamics of the whole car...Truth is the LS460L is lacking in the dynamics department with or without the high performance all-seasons!

I've got the Car & Driver "High-Zoot Luxury Sedans" article stating the car doesn't hold up in hard driving situations, mainly due to the "tires and the car's soft roll motions." They also critisize the LS's uncommunicative steering nature, & saying the car "rolls like a dinghy in a squall!"

All that got them the last place position behind the Jag...So as usuall with Lexus, there's plenty of compromise when it comes to performance.

for any car NOT driven at 9/10ths or 10/10ths, it DON'T MEAN CRAP that a car is capable of 0.5% better OR worse "performance" than a competitor. even 5.0% to 10% for that matter.

most people NEVER take advantage of more than 80 - 95% of ANY car's absolute maximum performance capabilities. most of the time, it's more like just 30 - 60, MAYBE 75%.

this UNDERUSE of maximum performance capabilities is ESPECIALLY TRUE of luxury car buyers.

some guys that make such a BIG deal of these meaningless small differences.

like 7th graders yapping over braggin' rights of your favorites. which you will likely NEVER own.

It is not ONLY about the tires and objective measures that were used in the C&D article but also the sheer lack of emotional content of the vehicle from the styling through driver connectedness to the road to 'gotta have it' factor. The award shows that the CNET guys are clueless about cars. Which roads were they tearing down, and which curves were they taking? Ha ha.. If I want to buy a Camcorder, flat screen TV, toaster or the like...I'll skim through their website, but a car???? 10/10. A lexus LS that tears down roads and takes curves.. Ha ha. I hope they provided some skidpad numbers (0.80) worse then an Audi Q7 and slalom 60mph (tied with the Honda Odyssey) Ha ha. That's like saying the 650lb sexy super model. Ha ha. Funniest article I've read all year!! Ha ha ha
