BMW Snags “John Cooper Works” Brand Name
BMW announced the acquisition of the “John Cooper Works” brand name after signing a deal yesterday. “John Cooper Works” is MINI’s high-performance badge. John Cooper Works has been tuning the MINI Cooper and the MINI Cooper S with kits that make MINI’s faster and sexier looking. No financial deals have been released but BMW said the deal will be effective as of January 2007.

Makes sense. BMW had held back the JCW engine package from its revised Mini web site, apparently until this deal was finalized.

Might bringing the JCW package in-house knock down the astronomical $6,300 price tag for conversion? That would be news. Last year, a Mini-S with JCW was in 3-series territory.
