Top Gear Awards Jaguar XK “Car of the Year”
Jermey Clarkson presented the Jaguar XK with two awards at the 2006 Top Gear Awards. The Jaguar XK snagged the “Car of the Year” as well as the “GT of the Year” at the awards held in London on December 7th.

Editor of Top Gear magazine Michael Harvey said: “We feel justified in handing OUR BIG ONE to the fabulous XK, a car everyone now recognises as magnificently beautiful, that reclaims the lost role of the Grand Tourer and, we suspect, might reclaim the art of ride/handling compromise in the portfolio of skills any purveyor of so-called luxury cars must possess.”

I love the new XK... drool-worthy.

The base version is a little overpriced, though, which makes the XKR look like a fabulous deal. You can easily option up an XK Cabriolet to over $90K, and the XKR convertible starts at $93K I think.

I love the design of this car, except the profile would be that much better without the rear spoiler. I might have considered the new XK over my 6 if it had at LEAST an extra 30hp.

You should've waited for the XKR...

I'm thinking of looking at the 650ci (if I wanted a GT), but I just thought to myself, "Why, oh why would I do that? If I'm spending $85-100K, I'm getting an XKR or 911!"
