HARTGE H50 V10 Coupe – BMW 3 Series Coupe E92 with M5 engine!

Forthcoming BMW M3 eat your heart out cause Hartge has presented a coupe version of the E90 BMW 3 Series Sedan based, and M5 powered, H50 V10. Its called H50 V10 Coupe, and as you read on the title above, it’s based on the 2008 3 Series Coupe. Like its sedan counterpart, it uses a modified version of BMW M5’s 5.0 litre V10 powerplant producing an extra 43 Hp, thus raising output to 550 Hp and torque to 520 Nm. The 5.0 V10 is coupled to a 7-speed SMG transmission and achieves a time of 4,4 sec for the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time while top speed is 320 km/h (200 mph).

I agree...for such a jump in power, the performance seems marginal. The only thing I can think of is that Hartge is using a similar estimation to BMW estimation. The mfg's claim for the 335i is something like 5.3 sec and it is capable of at least 4.9. That means maybe the Hartge is claimed to be 4.4, but can really hit it at aroun 4 sec.

BUT, for well over $100k you could buy two 335i coupes and tune them (when more parts become avail.) to over 400hp and achieve similar performance and still have change in your pocket!

and i just read that the curb weight is around 3600 lbs?? With 550hp, we're talking about 6.6lbs/hp! That is F430 territory! These are humble performance figures IMO. I bet this car can make the run to 60 in under 4 sec.

The M5 tips the scales at over 4000 lbs and with 50 less hp, it can sprint to 60 in 4.1-4.2sec. The H50 coupe weighing 400 lbs less and having 50 more hp should be able to wipe the floor with the M5.

Pathetic. M5 is apparently a sub 4.7s - 4.5s and yet here you have a many times lighter 3 series that is apparently only within E63 territory.

It seems the Germans have become so efficient to the extent that 3rd party tuners are becoming redundant

Even with the power and aggressive styling that this car has, the pricetag still is not justified. The author of the report says it best:

"157.600 EUROS –or- 208.400 USD in Germany –tax included of course. Call me stupid but if I lived in Germany I’d prefer to buy a Porsche 911 GT3 (108.083 EUROS) and 2008 BMW 335 Ci –yes the one with the twin turbo engine (44.317 EUROS) and save a total of 5.200 EUROS…."

Acceleration with these high power ratings shouldn't be seen through 0-60 but rather 0-100 mph.

Definitely doesn't make sense when you consider the $125,000 Porsche Turbo does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Get the Turbo and spend the $30,000 left on a nice Toyota Tacoma.

Unless this V10 can get sub 4.0 second times, it's not worth more than $100,000.

The "slow" 0-60 time is probably due to lack of traction. The rear wheels get less traction with heavy V10 up front. It's probably no faster to 0-30mph, so it's hard to make big gains by 60mph

the weight distribution is 52/48...i bet traction is pretty good. That is not a bad distribution considering the V10

I think the car looks awesome. Ever since I saw the first 335i I thought the design was nice but blah. I think Hartge spiced it up just right, and if they could have waited for the 335xi, or xi, then we would be able to see the full potential of this setup. Although they would have had to reinforce the awd somehow.

Oh snap. Still can't beat the RS4 to 60 mph. Oh wait, those are probably very conservative German timates. The M5 does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds with less power and more weight.But the price is a bit astronomical dare I say?

Yes... if you want to use the manufacturer's times, the RS4 would be slower, actually.

And that makes sense, as you should probably know. In this Hartge E92, less weight + 130 more hp = much faster than RS4. But for significantly more money.
