Porsche, VW should welcome you. Porsche Autogroup will be a better company once acquisition of VW Autogroup take place.

I certainly hope so... VW and Porsche are two peas in a pod, and they deserve to be together. Ha! You can call my car a re-badged Porsche, a re-badged Lamborghini, a re-badged Bentley, or a re-badged Bugatti!

If Porche does take control of VW, how will that affect product overlap b/t Audi, Bentley, Lambo, and Porche?

They all either have or are going to have some great products in the next few years. Will sales of one brand cannibalize one or two of the others? The new Porche 4-dr will get more attention than the Phaeton/A8 has ever had. Bentley's plan to make a smaller, less expensive sedan may overlap with the A8 and Posrche 4-dr. Is Lambo & Bentley really thinking about making SUVs?

It's possible for all the VW/Audi/Porche brands to survive with their current and future portfolios as many consumers have their separate taste and desires that relates to all of these brands.

All these questions. hmmmmm. One thing's for sure, its gonna be exiting in the next few years when Porsche takes over VW group.

good points, but consider:
* almost every part/hose/bracket on VW or AUDI already has 3 symbols on it: VW, 4-rings, and Porsche
* The Cayenne is a Touareg, built in a VW factory. Porsche supplies seats, engines on the V8s (V6 is VW) and paint.
* the new 4-door will also be built by VW (Porsche claimed that no other manufacturer bidding on the product could match their quality standards)

Yes, there will be overlap, but that will happen whether they are merged or not.
But each has its appeal and market.

Consider: if BMW were bought by VW/Audi, do you think BMW buyres would suddenly start buying Audis, or vice-versa?
I don't think that ownership means much, as long as they don't muck with the essence of the brand (unlike GM, who can screw up every-company that they acquire with their "no material is too cheap for our customers" accounting and badge engineering)

I agree DieselRules. Sadly, eventually, overlapping will be a problem unless they come up with a foolproof plan to distinguish the brands effectively. Marketing wise, there are problems with current models like the old SLK/Crossfire, old E-class/300C, etc. in platform sharing. Peoople will eventually know where these cars came from.
