When Lexus Launches The LS 460, It's Party Time

When Lexus Launches The LS 460, It's Party Time
When a significant new vehicle arrives on the scene, dealerships typically break out the wine and cheese for a sneak preview for their best customers.

Unless you're talking about Lexus.

At a series of coordinated events, Lexus dealers used art galleries, trendy restaurants and sports arenas as the backdrop for the launch of the 2007 LS 460 sedan. In some cases, competing dealers in a region pooled their resources to have an even splashier shindig.

The events show how far luxury automakers are willing to go to attract and retain their best customers.

You know something, I am seriously considering buying the LS460L.

What is your favorite color for this car?

I like white with tan leather on the inside, but a black LS with tan inside is nice too.

EL34,
I bought an LS460L in a starfire white with the beige interior. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

That's the color I would get, but I'm still thinking about the S550 Merc.

Oops, mention Benz and watch the points disappear into thin air.

My favorite LS color combinations:

-Mercury Metallic with black leather interior
-Smoky Granite Mica with black leather interior
-Obsidian with light gray leather interior

Just a few suggestions, if you are serious about the LS.

lexusis350, doesn't Mercedes have a color called Obsidian?

I don't know, I don't look at Mercedes'. Are you saying that Lexus "copied" Mercedes? It all means the same thing, anyway.

EL34,
I must let you know. I get more head turns than a S550, driving the LS460L. I even got asked a lot about the parking feature. Many might think that its a useless feature, but let me tell you, it's an ego booster for most people and they buy just to have it.
That's how most fans see it.

I don't think the parking feature is useless. Doesn't it do 90 degree parks as well as parallel? That would come in handy in my opinion.

I went and checked the LS460 out a couple of months ago at the old El Toro Marine Air Station where Lee Harvey Oswald used to serve at during the late 50's, but now the entire bae which was closed by President Regan is in full swing construction to be called "The Great Park" and I test drove the LS460 and no doubt it's a very nice car.

So does a Hyundai Azera when it is polished up and put under special lighting. Japanese Cadillac has come a long way. Keep buying them Americans. The Japanese are laughing all the way to the bank.

You have to kidding yourself, Chinese prefer Cadillac?

Chinese avoid American cars like a plague.

"More Americans and Chinese prefer Cadillac than Audi, though."

But, this is where he's wrong. Audi controls a whopping 60% of the Chinese luxury market- easily their most popular premium car.

I think some of the chinese got a thing for buick and cadillac because they didn't have to live with the last 2 or 3 decades of their cars, just one reason.

True and they kind of like the driver side on the left, just like in Germany. Even My friends Classic Mercedes Limousine was left hand drive too.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that was EL34i- I don't know if all the "EL34" variants are the same person, but EL34i was the one that mocked Japanese cars and always said you should get a Buick and some stock.

I think you could compare the LS460 to the S550 based on size and the E550 on price and I'll bet the E550 Sport handles better than the LS and is a tad faster.

The problem with the Lexus is it's inbetween the 2 Mercedes.

EL34, am i right in thinking that you seem to be in a dilemma making a choice between 1000,000 stars car and a mere 3 stars car?you wont be disappointed with either i'm sure.

How many stars does the 2008 Lexus flagship Lexus LS600hL get?

Will the breaks be upgraded??...I'm sure they will, but!!

Money used for flash instead of substance. Like decent tires for the LS460.

You reckon it would be more than 3 stars or up to 1000,000 if the brakes are upgraded?Reviewers are going to rate BMW and Merc diesels higher i can almost prophesy.

--------

you have to keep in mind that Audi has a big percentag e of the Chinese buyers as well. They don't avoid American cars like a plague. They love their Buick & Cadillac. American cars to them are luxurious & comfortable. The chinese love the quiet and soft rides so they choose Cadillac & Buick. I speak on behalf of the Chinese because I am a Canadian Born Chinese. I have a places in Asia. In Taipei when I was younger my parents had a stretched Lincoln or Cadillac with a hired driver. It was as luxurious as they come.

Anyways, the LS460 is a nice car but not a beautiful car. The designs a safe design but not a WOW Factor. Good technology, good quality, good car. Plain & simple.

Am i the only one here that thinks this car is a little too understated and a bit on the bland side. My opinon is only refering to the styling.

Agree, the S class by far, not even a second thought...the Lex is nice but not special enough..Of course, price is an issue...no wrong decision but given a choice, hands down the Merc.
