i never liked the proportions of the 911,, id take an aston martin v8 vantage instead.

I love the 911... best sports car in the world.

OK, now I didn't really notice much, Still looks like the 997, maybe only the front spoiler looks different. Anyways, the car is beautiful as it is, so it doesn't really require a facelift.

And Yes, one of the best sport cars in the world.

20 years ago, the 1986 model Carrera 3.2 didn't look the same as the new model 997, In fact the model that most closely resembles this one due to the front light design is the 993. With the 996 they went to the ugly boxster lights and they fixed it up a little bit when they switched to the turbo's headlights, accompanied by a 3.6 liter engine.

Tail lights are very different but I agree, the facelift is more of a nip & tuck...

And they didn't need to do anything else.

Why tamper with a winning formula? The 911 is best left alone- it's beautiful as is, in any color, with any wheels.

I don't see the facelift here...the car is 997 all the way around. It might be next year's model, but I don't see any exterior changes at all. The 997 will be around for a few more model years, at least.

They still have the GT2 in development and the Turbo just came out this year. I wouldn't expect any facelifts until 2009 at the earliest.

My dealer said that the refreshed Cayenne will be out soon, then the Panamera release, then a Cayman refresh, THEN a new 911.

Well, the refreshed 911 will probably come out shortly after the refreshed Cayenne. I would guess that the new-ish 997 and the Panamera might be released at the same auto show.

i gotcha, i think the dealer was referring more to the 998 911, rather than a "new" 997.

It looks the same to me. 911's will always have the same body shape but different front and rear facias. It's the trademark look for 911 therefore nothing will ever be changed in terms of total redesign.

Looks good, sounds good, lots of tradition & heritage. IMO I think the most understated supercar manufacturer in the world.

You mean a no nonsense light weight sport car like the early 2.0 2.2 and 2.4 liter engine 911 from 1963 to 1973? If I remember the 911 had an increase in wheelbase back in 1969, then 70 was the year of the 2.2 then 72 was the 2.4 (actually it was more like 2.3) That car really handled like a go kart.

No, I want a 911 terribly, but I want it to still have some luxury features.

I don't care if it doesn't have MORE luxury as my car- but with its performance and beauty, only AS MUCH will be ample. I'd even settle for a little less if it meant having a 911 Cabriolet for under $100,000.
