I actually like the ES 350's design. Very nice. A great job doen to rebadge the Camry into this nice looking vehicle. So good, that the LS 460 looks like the ES 350 from a distance.

This is not a rebadged Camry you moron!!!They simply do what every other company does,and share platform!!!

the camry is actually a rebadged ES.

ONE reason they sell so well. and NO competitor can touch it in sales. or value.

an extra $300 is STILL a bargain for the best value luxury car out there.

chewy, the ES is my least favorite Lexus since it really started/related as a 4cyl. Camry.

I like the IS, GS and LS the best and I don't care for any of the SUV's

(ApexAlex) a rebadged vehicle is the exact same vehicle with just different badges,The ES350 use to be the Toyota Windom,not the Toyota Camry.Like I said before they do share platform,but they are the exact same vehicle!!!Here's an example of rebadged cars (Nissan Skyline GT 3.5 =Infiniti G35 same exact car no changes,,Acura TSX=Honda Accord(in Japan)same exact car no changes to the body or engine,,Get the picture of what a rebadged vehicle is!!!

It's selling like crazy. They could increase the price $1,000 easy and still sell them all. Weird, I know.

My dad of all people was looking at an ES the other day. He already drives a Lexus and they wanted to charge $650 a month for that POS.

He called me and I told him it was a rebadged Camry. Apparently, they were in the final negotiation stages--as soon as he heard this, he walked out.

How many people would honestly buy an ES if they knew what it really was? $650/month for a Camry? No thanks.

It is not a rebadged Camry! Have you driven/riden in one? Name five things it has in common with the Camry other than the engine. Just five. If it's a rebadged Camry it should be easy. You can't think of five can you? That's because it is totally different from the Camry.

as 2JZ and others have said, it is NOT a rebadge. which by definition = IDENTICAL sheetmetal in addition to SHARED platform, with JUST the BADGE changed.

in any case, all the advantages of the shared platform rebounds to the camry's advantage. the platform was designed to LEXUS standards. camry owners can rightfully claim they have de-contented lexes ESs.

Coolest thing about the ES is that with the glass roof option the interior temperature of the car is lower than with the standard solid top.

Should come in handy on a hot day.

this so far is the ES that shares components with the camry the least. So what if some ideas are shared? is that really a crime? i guess we could say that theoretically it is a toyota, but what is wrong with that as long as it feels good to drive and you get some prestige? most lexus owners including myself dont care if the "PLATFORM" is the same, for god sakes, most of us dont even know what a platform is.

i guess i should have saved the 20K on my RX and bought a highlander. Too bad the highlander looks like crap? and my lexus is actually good looking?

i guess what im saying is that "so what" if its a camry? im not admitting that it is one, but im just saying does it really matter? its not like toyota is a bad company persay, so what is wrong with coming from toyota...nothing! i buy lexus cars because they look good (IMO) and they are cheaper than their european competitors, while giving a little prestige added in as some icing on top. You have to understand they are built in different factories, have different design teams, but the money used to produce them come from the same corp. So really, they arent that identical at all.

P.S. it does offset the premium i pay for. i think its worth it. you pay for the name,

not to mention, load up the top model camry with all the lux options, and IT TOO (like the ES) would be a better car than ANY of its competitors.

If it was a new engine for the ES, then maybe- but even that's questionable! The ES is for old people, and granted, it fullfills its role well!

Old people!!!I think 272hp and a 0-60 in 6.8 is too much hp for older people,this vehicle can be driven by anyone young or old because it's got exceptional performance for the younger people and a nice smooth luxurious ride for the older people!!!

People who call the ES350 a rebadged Camry are fools,and have never driven one.The Lexus ES350 is about 99% higher quality overrall than a Camry and the body lines are completely different than a Camry,the ES350 has abit more horsepower than the Avalon and the V6 Camry,the ride quality is much better in the ES350.

for all those badge WHORES who make such a FUSS about the relationship bet'n lexus and toyota:

back in the 1950s and '60s, most mercedes models were NO MORE prestigious than buicks.
lincolns, and caddys FAR outclassed 'em.

bmws were roughly = pontiacs, vws were far BELOW chevys and fords...

and audi was the 'american motors' of europe, a hodge-podge of SICK and dying brands.

with the rise of the Mark against the Dollar, and generally high costs due to their manufacturing INefficiencies, all these "prestigious" german marques would have had to QUIT the american market.

but some marketing genius figured, well, let's INCREASE the dollar prices, position ourselves upmarket, and call these very ordinary cars german LUXURY cars. or sport luxury. or whatever.

somehow, they pulled it off. and with the increased profits, they could actually PUT some credible upmarket features in to justify higher prices.

THAT is the origin of today's "prestige" brands. far more humble than even toyota. to say nothing of lexus.

i DID say "most" mercedes models. the run-of-the-mill ones.

the gullwing is to your average taxicab MB as the Riviera is to a Special. or the Corvette to a bel air.

NO company LIKES competition in and of itself.

a few MAY enjoy challenges. (as on racing circuits)

most companies react to competition as INCENTIVE to match competitors, OR DIE! this is what happened to detroit in the 1980s.

i'm sure MB "loved" the competition from lexus in '89 and '90, when unsold MBs were stored on acres of parking lots.
