2011 Ford Mustang 4 Door-Coupe?

2011 Ford Mustang 4 Door-Coupe?
Now this could be one hell of a smart move for Ford: a 4door-coupe Mustang, or in other words, a “poor-mans” Mercedes CLS. That’s if Autoweek’s & Autocar’s (it’s on both sites) photochop is really based on inside information and they’re not pulling our leg. The chop itself looks mighty sexy combining all your typical “Mustang” elements in a dynamic 4door sedan.

Are you f*&@#@#$% kidding me? Ford just throw in the towel and get it over with.

I don't know, but if done right this could really be something nice with a broad appeal.

Appeal for the car but destroy its reputation. This car should be integrated to other Ford Brands that are suffering.

How about a Mustang SUV? LOL.

That is a rubbish idea and will never hit the marketplace. Pointless design/idea/concept/photoshop. They can't compete against the RX8 in the "4door" coupe let alone going against the CLS and future German 4 door coupes. There's no way.

lol dont think the point of this car (whatever it is) is to make a 4 door version of a 20,000 car compete with a 70,000 mercedes or an rx8 for that matter...just seems like they are running out of ideas though and using the one popular car and expanding on it...it would make sense as long as it doesnt look rediculous just use the platform and some design cues not literally a 4 door mustang. it worked for nissan with the g35, 350, fx, and m, why not make a line of cheap sporty cars off of a sports car platform....again thats if they dont literally mean a mustang coupe stretched with 2 extra doors

Maybe the intent of this rumor is that Ford is planning to make a 4dr and wagon version of the Mustang. Not necessarily creating a separate division.

I think they could pull it off with a sedan. A wagon may be pushing it. An SUV is intriguing. Remember, Porsche has a sedan in the works, and they've already built an SUV. Like ANSWER says, this could be the beginning of something interesting. What better vehicle to stake Ford's future on?

Im agreeing with you on that. I think that they should build a sedan of the same mustang platform, but I dont know about calling it a mustang...just change the name of it. But why bother building a station wagon...who buys a station wagon???

Thats pretty twisted. they will have to compensate due to those who will be forever put off the brand. Porsche did it but i don't think ford has the immage to be able to pull this off. Remeber mustang 2.

NOOOO STOP!!!

I am so sick of the "four-door coupe" trend!!! IT'S A SEDAN!!!

mstangpny, I whole-heartedly agree!

Unless the A7 and Panamera stun me with their seductive style, I'm still going to think four-door coupes are the stupidest thing this side of an R-Class. And, Mercedes pioneered both- boo!

The gorgeous Rapide has an exemption, however.

This 4 door coupe idea thing for the Mustang is definitely wrong. This concept should be put to good use in another Ford brand thats suffering from an identity crisis. (Mercury?). Dont mess with the Mustang formula.

Looks like a very ugly Dodge Charger... :( More big, bulky, ugly American cars that nobody will buy... the sooner Ford goes out of business, the better...

This stupid 4 door Mustang idea will kill the brand. The sames thing happened to the T-bird when a four door version was introduced in the early 70s. The car went from being a sporty GT coupe to a vinyl topped luxo barge. The Thunderbird never recovered .

If Ford wants to make a 4 door coupe, it should be a Lincoln, not a Mustang.

How to kill the Mustang, add two doors and maybe then make it a wagon.. Next thing you will be reading Ford is killing yet another nameplate the Mustang.
If Ford wants to build a 4 door off the mustang great. Don't share sheetmetal just the floorpan and bring back the Facon nameplate. But to name it a Mustang will only kill the idea of what the car is suppose to be. Also I can see in a few years Ford killing the two door because familys like the four door. Ford needs to save itself and not relie on one good car to do the job. They need to take what they learned from the Mustang and apply it elsewhere.
