Top Gear’s Car of the Year

One of Top Gear’s most anticipated announcement, Top Gear unveiled its list of Car of the Year’s today in its newest issue. The list includes vehicles of all ranges from each category, including the new Lexus LS600h hybrid. Sport utility of the year went to the new Freelander 2 from Land Rover while the compact car of the year went to the Mini Cooper S, which was no surprise.

However, to find the overall Car of the Year, you’ll have to purchase the newest issue of Top Gear magazine. Continue reading for the complete list of winners from each category.

wow, i don't agree with any of those, except maybe the Gallardo Spyder and the 599GTB...but when did the 599 become a supercar? Last time I checked, the Enzo was Ferrari's supercar and the 599 is just a V12 front-engine replacement to the 575 Maranello. Not to say it isn't an amazing machine, but a supercar? I don't think so.

The 599GTB is currently proably the fastest front engined car you can buy. It's as fast as the new Lambo LP640. Whats not supercar about that?

I agree that it is probably the fastest front-engine car, but it is not faster than the LP640. Just measuring 0-60 times, the 599 can do it in 3.5, while the LP640 can do it in 3.3...plus AWD on the Lambo and mid-engine placement gives it better weight distribution and handling.

Why is Gallardo Spyder a dream car ? what is the big deal ? Why is Ferrari 599 GTB a supercar ? Buggati Veyron should the dream car , maybe just maybe the Saleen S7 twin turbo the supercar. Miata roadster of the year we all agree ? just my .002

My car happens to be Clarkson's second-favorite convertible. The S4 is definitely not under the spotlight- intruiging that he would show so much interest in it.

Of course, his favorite is the new XK, because it's a Jag. It doesn't matter if it's slower or not as nice on the inside- it's a Jag!

I'm surprised he hasn't traded his SL500 in for either of those yet. He has some kind of SL, maybe not a 500.

he has traded his sl55. its for sale at a dealer for 69000 pounds. he has an slk55 now.
