Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid Coming in 2009

Volkswagen has decided to commercialize its first hybrid car, entering therefore in competition with Toyota and Honda in a almost unexplored field for the European houses.

Rest assured, when the hybrid technology comes out of VW, it will have lots of problems just like their usual VW cars.

I thought Euros were so damn smart, and American consumers and Toyota were so stupid. Yet here's another Euro brand talking about bringing a hybrid to market.
More vindication for Toyota. But by the time it arrives the Prius will be Gen III, and will be getting 70-80 mpg.

I'd like to see 70-80mpg but I doubt it can happen. I've personally experienced almost 70mpg on the highway with a Honda Insight, but that also has to do with my driving habits and the fact that the car is tiny.
