2007 Predicted to be a Tough Year for Automakers

U.S. auto sales will slip to a nine-year low of 16.2 million units in 2007 and Detroit-based automakers will lose more ground to Asian rivals, a closely tracked forecast said.

Auto industry analysis firm CSM Worldwide forecast U.S. light-vehicle sales would fall 1.2 percent from 16.4 million units projected to be sold this year.

The forecasting firm said the aggressive discounts on offer in recent years by Detroit automakers drew new car buyers, who would have otherwise waited, into showrooms early, setting the stage for a downturn in 2007.

This day and age is a very tought market, who ever build the best cars and trucks will sure come out on top for 2007. My prediction will be Japanese and Koreans as always !!! Germany 2nd American 3rd ONLY TIME WILL TELL !!

No it will be Toyota and Hyundai with the most gains. Yet the order will be
1. Toyota or GM
3. Ford/Honda
5. Chrysler

I think it will be T/H.

GM got a lot of cars that are uninspiring. Thus, not so easy on the eyes.

I agree, I think it will be Toyota and Honda because they market mostly to the mainstream public. And they produce better products than the American companies.
