German Car Sales Hit Fast Lane, Fueling 3.9 Percent Increase for Europe

German car sales hit the fast lane last month, rising 18.1 percent from a year ago and fueling a 3.9 percent increase across Europe, manufacturers' association ACEA said Wednesday.

Sales hit 1.22 million in November, picking up from an October turnaround that ended four months of decline and showed Europeans are starting to cash in on a growing economy.

Fiat SpA saw the biggest gain, up 15.1 percent after selling 95,225 cars, but Germany's Volkswagen AG shifted the most cars, pushing 266,737 out of showrooms _ a 11.1 percent increase on November 2005.

Toyota Motor Corp. was another winner with a 10.6 percent hike.

Let's make it clearer, please. Car sales in Germany are rising, the article is not meant to say that sales of German brands are on the dramatic rise. In fact. foreign makes are selling quite well in Germany-Fiat, Toyota, Ford and GM are singled out as successes in this article.

the way i read it, it does mean the german MARKET. note that of the top 3 gainers, only ONE --vw-- is actually a german brand.

Well how do you know the most reliable automaker of the past Mercedes won't catch back up?

Plus the world is so globalize and technology development is so rapid, reliablity between manufactures would be really close. Take for example Audi and Porsche as they jump on the reliablity survey.

Toyota's are excellent cars in terms of engineering and value, but I'd never get one. There is something I want in my cars. It's called excitement. No Toyota, with the exception of the Supra and Tundra, are exciting.

I find Hyundai's to be really winning me over on style, quality and even better designs than Toyota. If I were you (which thankfully I am not), I'd be worried about Hyundai.
