Hit or Miss? 2008 Malibu

Hit or Miss? 2008 Malibu
Trolling the GM press site sometimes has its rewards. Such as the occasional easter egg they sometimes toss out there just to see if you are awake.

Some 2008 Malibu sneak shots appeared with nary a comment from GM, so we passed them on to you to see. Is this is a hit or miss?

This car will be a hit for GM.

A hit for the average American customer, but a miss to compete against the Japanese. Then again my comment might be premature since I have not yet seen the whole thing.

The Malibu will have 252 HP.

dream on.

even buicks only BARELY approaches corolla, yaris, AND camry in quality.

chevy will have to reach at least CADILLAC quality (in the gm scheme of quality) before toyota buyers will even sniff at 'em.

Another company copying the VW/Audi large front grill. This however doesn't look that good. I had high hopes for this.

I agree 100%. I'm going to love to see sales slip from the Japanese.

The headlight look really simple and about 7 years old.

At first glance, it looks bad, but now that I look carefully, it's not too shabby.

Don't like it, I think it will look much better if they take the top grill out. For a GM product not bad, not bad at all, but still no where near a the Camry, Nissan and Accord.

Won't the Malibu be based on the Opel Vectra and that's why the grill goes from top to bottom.

I like the German inspired bonnet.

On second thought this does remind me of an A4, can you see how the trunk is and plus the grill.

SO will it be Chevy Malibu S4 edition.

A hit to those that like domestic designs. Finally, domestics are designing to the chorus. Confidence will make followers latter.

I hit.

I don't know if I would call it a hit or not. It looks good until you see the grill, which looks like an HHR.

First off, I'm glad to see GM hasn't decided to use modern, futuristic-looking projector headlights, because that would be too much. Much better to have a dated halogen-style set-up to make it look more American.

Second, it looks like a sedan that wants to be a truck.

leave Tahoe styling cues to the Tahoe. Please.

It just looks years behind the competition. I can't help but say it. Although GM has leaked an interior picture, and that looks promising.

The design is a bit different, but is neither pretty or interesting. Pity.

chevy still hasn't gotten a clue about their "bone thru the nose" logo treatments being ODD on top of being outdated.

Last year, the Chevrolet Impala beat the Camry in initial quality, according to J.D. Power & Associates. And Consumer Reports just announced that both the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan scored higher than both the Camry and the Honda Accord this year.
I can't wait until the perception catches up with reality...
