DETROIT AUTO SHOW: BMW 3 Series Convertible, The Best in Class?
The fourth generation of BMW's 3 Series four-seat convertible will make its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in January. A new dimension in the world of motoring comes with the introduction of a retractable hardtop for the first time on a BMW.

Made of lightweight steel, the three-piece roof opens in just 22 seconds and folds smoothly into the rear compartment of BMW's newest convertible. The new roof structure ensures a lower level of noise even at high speeds while the ultra-stiff platform provides extreme torsional strength for rigidity and the superb handling inherent to all BMWs.

The new BMW 3 Series Convertible retains all the elegance and unique style that is characteristic of the 3 Series with the top either open or closed. The long and sleek hood, low shoulder line and the broad-shouldered rear end make the new BMW 3 Series Convertible unmistakable from any angle. And with the new retracting hardtop, it offers performance, comfort, safety, and value unique in its segment.

The new 3 Series Convertible will be offered in the U.S. as a 230bhp 328i and as a twin turbo, 300bhp 335i. Both models will be on sale in late March, 2007.

Peeps, I told you the BMW 3 was made out of a block of aircraft grade aluminum.

Just look at that styling!!

It's pretty easy to be best in this class, but it's pretty hard to outdo the Bimmer in this class aswell...

I love this car especially the hardtop, but I'll miss some of cool canvas top colors. How cool is last years M3 convertable in white with a blue top?????????

Well, obviously!

The new 3 convertible is...

•The newest

•The best-looking

•The most powerful

•The most technologically advanced

•The best to drive

...of all the convertibles in its class. Hats off to BMW.

I would go with the Eos. Same thrills for 10-20,000 less.

I would go with the VW Eos. Same thrills for 10-20,000 less.

No, not really. EOS is nice- but not comparable at all.

The VW Eos is probably 95% of the BMW 3 series convertible for much less. Most likely just about the same acceleration, similar handling and braking, most likely more trunk space and same backseat space. Plus you can get the V6 Eos with more power and torque for less money (optioned up Eos compared to econo box like interior of the BMW)

Yes, but why not get 100% of the 3 Series experience at a 3 Series price?

ANSWER MY QUESTION.

WHY DO YOU REFER (OR EXPLICITLY BRING UP) AUDI IN every single post EVER?????

EVERY SINGLE BMW POST!!! THIS IS ALL I SEE!!!!

You are a profoundly sad fellow.

Chewy... its no different than you saying you woudl liek a VW when the post heading says BMW 3 series convertible: best in class?

what a moron you have tured out to be. Which is not too bad in itself. A moron driving a second rate car because you dont make enough money to drive the real deal is whats truly sad. give your jetta a rest dude!!

Wow. I think that his EOS comment was moronic- but to call somebody else a moron is just hipocritical. You are so... wow, there's no simple word to describe you. You're just abhorrent.

If you even understand what that means.

"Chewy"..take it one step further and instead of buying an Eos which in your eyes, is a 3 series convertible, why don't you buy yourself a Beetle convertible. By the way, you'll find the same engine in your beetle in an Audi - which according to you makes it the best on the planet.

chewychewy - 12/23/2006 3:37:16 PM

No Audi uses the Beetle's engine. Sorry, you lose.
