Japanese Sports Sedan Trifecta!

The editor mentioned that the G took the middle road. It doesn't have the performance of the LEXUS and nor has the touring capabilities of the Acura. Also mentioned that the Lexus hit 60 in 4.9 seconds and that it is faster than the "V-8 powered Audi S4". Not my words look at the video for yourself.

Did I hear it wrong?

1 = Lexus IS 350
2 = Acura TL Type S
3 = Infiniti G 35

The Lexus website has 0 - 60 mph in 5.3 for the IS350.

Yeah so, the BMW website has 5.4 for the 335i sedan with manual while C&D did 4.8.

So how did R&T get a faster time than Lexus could?

Well aren't you aware that car companies like to understate their times. This is why constantly you'll see that magazines beat the estimates. Same for the BMW. How did C&D get a better time when BMW couldn't???

Hey...Lexus, probably underestimate it time for the IS350. Road and Track says it hit hit 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and that is faster than the "V-8 powered Audi S4". He also mention Lexus interior is the best in the industry.

Unless Acura comes out with a RWD vehicle,it will never be a serious competitor in the sport sedan category.remember a FWD vehicle with too much horsepower does not handle as well as RWD or AWD vehicle!!

Of all those cars the Lexus IS350 is the only car I would consider buying.

Kart1 i believe one more magazine earlier reported the 0-60 of lexus at 4.9 seconds and the GS450h at 5.1 seconds.

Lexus will always be better than Infiniti and Acura. That's because they are more aimed at the German competition, which is a really competetive area, where Acura and Infiniti are competing against each other. I consider Lexus in a higher class than Acura and Infiniti. But anyway, I agree with this video, it's one of the many reasons I bought my IS.

If Lexus is bring out the up and coming IS-F with possibly 500 hp; then I think they should add more hp to the IS250. I think Lexus should bring the IS250 to 265 hp, the IS350 to 330/330 hp. I really truly think that Lexus will put close to or 500 hp in the IS-F.

Reason why, because the Current RS4 has 420 hp, rumor new M3 going to have 420+ hp, AMG63 rumor that it will have 450+ hp. And that not all, their rumor going around that the next CTS-V is going to have some where close 500 hp of it own. So it only make sense that Lexus will put close to 500 or 500 hp of it own in the IS-F.

That would make sense, Wilco, what with the new 328i having 230hp and a possible 230-240hp version of the new A4 2.0T.

By the way, I'm not getting the 230-240 figure for the A4 out of nowhere. The GTI Edition 30 has 230hp (one more for each year it's been in production), and some sort of SEAT has a 2.0T tuned for 240hp. Why Audi doesn't tune their engine more (on the current models) is beyond me.

They should have just come out with an IS300 with 245hp, the same engine in the GS300.

Lately Road and Track has gotten the quickest times out of the 3 American magazines, this is the quickest time for the IS that I have ever seen, before 5.1 was the quickest IIRC.

Wilco, I definitely agree to what you have said, and hopefully they will do this soon. And don't forget the rumor Lexus GS460, and hopefully it will get 360-380 hp of it own. And the rumor GS-F, let hope this baby will get 500+ hp off it own. I have not figure out why Lexus has not make a GS350/460 coupe yet? I think the Lexus GS is one of the most beatiful and elegant four sedan out there. If.. and when they do decide to make the GS coupe, I know I'm going to order one for sure.

The GS460 isn't just a rumor. It's obviously going into production soon.

If it doesn't, Lexus has no idea what they're doing.

But it will- not only to stay competitive, but to keep costs down. They're currently producing three different V8 engines at the same time: the 4.7L 270hp (LOL), the 4.6L 382hp and the 4.3L 278hp. They may be able to trim that down to only the 4.6L, but I doubt the new LX and GX will use that engine. Even so, they can get rid of the 4.3L in the GS430 and SC430, and there would be a streamlined production of V8s in their car lines.

The title of this article was "...Trifecta!" Doesn't that sound like a Subaru vehicle?

I was utterly suprised that the slightly updated (more like outdated) TL made that big of an impression to get 2nd place. Acura needs to get their priorities straight and do something about this entry level sport sedan battle. But 0-60 in 4.9 seconds is nothing new, I myself being an owner of an IS350, have seen lower trap times and 0-60 times with colder climates. Needles to say I need to move to a colder climate area with little to zero snow.
