Enthusiasts will find the biggest changes under the good. The new 911 gets Porsche’s new direct-injection engines, as seen in the recently facelifted Cayenne. Fuel economy improvements of over 10% are claimed by Porsche, and up to 15% in real life. We’ll have to review them to check whether this is true or not. The other big change is the inclusion of a DSG-style dual-clutch gearbox as an option, reports Automotive News. Most of Porsche’s current tiptronic range is much slower than manual, adding around 0.5s to the 0-100km/h time. The only exception to this is the 911 Turbo, where the tiptronic is actually slightly faster than manual. A dual-clutch gearbox will allow auto drivers to get silky smooth gearshifts throughout the rev range.

The 911 is the BEST value in "exotic" sports cars. For $85,000, you get an engineering marvel that fights the laws of physics: rear engined car with the balance, feel and control considered among the world's elite. On top of that, reliability is bullet proof - this car was made to be driven everyday and tracked on the weekends.

When you buy a 911, you're not just buying a great sports car, you're buying a piece of automotive development history - flat6, rear engined, classic styling. Yes, yes, a Ferrari is great, but you can't drive it around town day in day out, and reguar maintenance is just a chore; it simply was not made to be an everyday car.

People just need to give a 911 a test drive before they make any comments - simply leaves you breathless with wanting.

About time they got rid of tiptronic. I can't believe they get away charing additional $ for that piece of crap. DSG is fantastic and should be a good match for the venerable 911.

Flat6Four ---that's a retarded thing to say. Just because I don't drive one doesn't make me say bad or good things about it. I don't drive a Ferrari either...yet I think they are beautiful. So no, I don't have that warped jealous mentality you exhibited here.

I would hope that the 911 becomes "distinctive" after 50 years of the same crap. But it looks old and overdone.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the Acura TL is pretty ugly, but those things are selling like hotcakes. I also find the 7 series to be unattractive, but it's selling like crazy too.

Personally, I thought the flatnose 911 of the late 80's to be pretty hot. I never liked the frog eyes look of the early 911, but the recent versions are an improvement.

It seems that you don't even pay attention to what I say. I've said many times I don't like Lexus cars...but obviously you don't pay attention so I don't see how you can even comment on my posts as being positive or negative.

Generally speaking, people like you enjoy attacking people like me because I state the obvious about certain things...such as the 911 being a stale design and Porsche being too wimpy to advance their designs instead of still making a Beetle variant for the past 60 years.

I'm truly sorry you don't like what's being said but pucker up and take it. You don't have to like it or even agree to it but it's true in this case.

So don't dish about BS about me liking Lexus or whatever. That's another subject altogether...which arose out of customer service comments...which is pathetically stupid of you guys to even try to deny. But since it bruises your ego, it's a sore point for you.
