Honda Motor Co. may begin to assemble hybrid vehicles at Honda’s new plant in Indiana, President Takeo Fukui told the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

The new factory, slated to begin operation in 2008 with annual output capacity of 200,000 units, will produce mainly small models, Fukui said. The Civic and the Fit may be made at the new plant, and Honda is considering building its small hybrid-only model—due out in 2009—there.

MDalle :Honda should stay away from using american labor for making their cars! Japanese people take pride in their work and that it is done properly, american factory workers couldn't care less as long as they get payed.

That was the reason that VW cited for pulling out of the US 20 years ago. But a friend who worked at Saturn when they started production said the environment was very different there compared to "typical" US plants.

title engineering, headline hype, 009 has it to the nines!

new top gun? more like johnny come lately!

i do admire Honda engineering myself, but they are still chasing Toyota.

(and before anyone claims honda had hybrids first, they were MERELY first to MARKET. and ONLY here. in japan prius was first to production, first to market. and first FULL hybrid.)

more new patents are applied for and granted in japan than in the u.s.

this, from a country with HALF the population of the u.s. (but with proportionately more scientists and engineers)
