GM Considering Cadillac CTS Coupe and Wagon

Automotive News is reporting that GM is serious about adding a Cadillac CTS coupe and wagon to its already popular CTS lineup. The 2008 Cadillac CTS Sedan will be unveiled officially at the NAIAS show in Detroit in a few weeks. The 2008 Cadillac CTS is expected to have a 3.6 liter V6 engine producing between 280 and 300 horsepower to stay in competition with Infiniti G35, BMW 3-Series and Lexus IS models.

GM has been planning a Cadillac CTS coupe for some times now to compete with Infiniti and BMW, but the addition of a CTS wagon to the lineup shows that GM is looking to gain serious popularity for the CTS in Europe and other parts of the world.

They already have a CTS w/ 400+ HP and good handling.. it is called the CTS-V, the one with the Vette engine

actually from mags, that tested the rs4 of course the cts-v is mentioned as far as the numbers "and not just 0-60" the cts-v and rs4 are neck and neck, with cadillac better in some tests, the funny thing is with as good as the overpriced audi is the most it can muster is to run with a car that is on its way out and thousands cheaper....pretty impressive audi, now when the new m3, and cts-v come out again audi is a "few" steps behind competition and will still cost more....big accomplishment

I am happy that Cadillac is having success with it' CTS, they are 2 decades late on this product but now they good entry level sedan to bulid on, a coupe and droptop needs to be next. The current SRX suv is underrated they did a good job with that car.

I've got to say that the coupe CTS might do something for people here, but at the price that it will most likely be at I would think it wouldn't sell well except for those people that are head over heels for the interior and exterior (although the exterior isn't that bad).

The wagon I think is going to fail over in Europe, For the money, luxury and other technological and "brand name" things that BMW, MB, Saab, Audi have; I would think it should be poorly received. They better not bring it here, that would be instant death for the CTS line.

The RS4 is quite a bit faster than the CTS-V. But the new one should come with the Corvette Z06 engine and should have very nice acceleration, but we will see how it works out.

That was the S4, and they didn't say that it handled worse, it had different handling characteristics but it still handled very well and the RS4 handles even better. Read the RS4 reviews, its handling has been praised in every single review published.

Hey that new CTS is a hot looking car...Now if they just keep the materials & the handling up to par, & price down, you never know...this just might be the next big thing in the luxury sport-sedan category since the G35.

and the wagon will raise sales in europe, chrysler has done it with the 300C, there's a wagon of that here too.
