Chinese government puts brakes on automakers

Not so long ago, the Chinese government was encouraging automotive manufacturers as a way to stimulate the country's economy. Now, however, the National Development and Reform Commission has hit the brakes with new rules dictating how China's burgeoning automotive industry can expand. "Signs of overcapacity have already appeared, and could worsen," read a statement from the commission.

That is why I sudjested long time ago that the U.S. Government should regulate a foreign brand like Toyota from over floating our own market.

How do we know if in the future they are not going to do the same?

Their Government might be crazy, but at least they do not turn a blind eye.

Spelling aside, that is the most idiotic statement I've seen in a while.

Most Toyotas on the road in the U.S. today are built in American plants by American workers using American-sourced parts and using North American-sourced raw materials.

While some of the manufacturing profits goes abroad, most of it stays in the U.S. to develop and refine more models in the North American Toyota arm.

An isolationist view just won't work in today's truly global economy.

How do you explain the extreme tariffs the Japanese put on US autos being shipped to Japan? Toyota, Honda, Subaru, and the Korean car makers don’t face the same tariffs and unfair business practices in this country. Toyota engine parts are being cast in Japan, engine assembly is happening in Japan, Toyota's may be assembling in this country; but the parts are made overseas.
