Cadillac Says No to Sixteen

General Motors announced that it will not bring the 16-cylinder fast car to the market. The Cadillac 16, revealed back in 2003 at the North American Auto Show, was believed to bring joy to Cadillac and more interested consumers. Although we love it, General Motors decided that the market was not ready for the biggest boy of the playground. Maybe we’ll see it in the few years to come.

If it were to come into production in the future, the base model would most likely be a V8, while the top-of-the-line Sixteen will have a V12. Until this day, the legacy of the revealing of the Cadillac Sixteen still lives with us, but sometimes, things are just too good to be true.

Cadillac need to focus on building better car first that worry about building concepts. ( for example : how to make cheap looking plastic not too cheap looking is a good start )

This is why people laugh at concepts that have no chance of going into production if that said company tries to pretend that it will go into production only years later to say that it won't.

not with the cadillac badge!
a mercedes badge would struggle to hold sales at this height (the SLR is always called a mclaren). leave the super-luxury to bentley, rolls and bugatti. do you think this is what a bugatti saloon would be like?

There is no market for the V12, why in the hell create a v16 engine? And if the car is called Sixteen and it had a v16 engine, why produce it with a v8 and v12, then the name doesn't make any sence anymore. Well that's GM's path, never made any sence.

This thing made it through a few preproduction hurdles despite what you might think. I spoke with someone over a year ago that was given the opportunity to design an audio system for the car. They were given strict size and weight limitations to work with. He was both chanllenged and amused at the prospect of building a B%O/Mark Levinsen type sound system given the restrictions. He claimed that one of the magnets alone on his speakers supassed the limit for the whole system. Never heard any more of what came of the project if anything.

That is the difference between the Veyron and any other car that claims to challange it. They Veyron exists and has proven its performance claims, the others have not.

Yes, those 300 Veyrons will use up so much fuel and make so much emmisions as each one will at most run 1,000 miles a year.

Yay, Cadillac. That was a stupid idea. The original sixteen had a market b/c engine makers only knew how to increase power by adding cylinders. Nowadays, you can pump 1,000hp out of even a 6-cylinder. They also have another route - aluminum frames, bodies and engines instead of thick steel. Cadillac should concentrate on building a better car.

As much as I'd like to see America's Maybach fighter and as much as I think this is worthy, I never thought it'd make production.

I Always did love the sixteen concept, it's a shame that cadillac didn't make it for real.
