Could a new GNX save Buick?

Could a new GNX save Buick?
OK, so Bob Lutz might be doing a lot to save GM (or not, depending on who you ask), but one GM division that is really trying to regain its former glory is Buick. Chevy is the mainstream division. Pontiac is performance. Saturn is the import beater (but with all the Opels in their showrooms, they are migrating towards the old Olds territory of Euro alternative). Cadillac is the American Mercedes and BMW fighter. And Buick is... uhhh... affordable luxury? No, that would be near luxury, like Acura. But isn't that where Cadillac is with the CTS? Buick is... well, Buick WAS like Mercury, a step between common and luxury. Gradually it has taken over the retiree ride demographic that has a loyal but dying customer base.

So what to do? Products like the new Enclave are cool, but the Lucerne is a bit of a letdown compared to something like the Chrysler 300. And the LaCrosse, Terraza, Rainier, and Rendezvous aren't exactly, well, good. So Buick could use a boost. Something to redefine and reinvigorate the brand. Something that might get people excited about owning a Buick. Something like the 2008 Buick GNX. Never heard of it? Well, that's because it's a figment of Popular Hot Rodding's imagination.

If they give it a bolder, we don't need another Gto front end than that it might.

Most of the so called ricer cars look ugly with the huge wings they have and out of place body cladding they put on.

i think the perfect set up is a ricer WITHOUT the oversize wings and body cladding.

imagine an innocent looking civic or corolla with mods under the hood that will blow away corvettes! THAT'S the perfect ricer. one that runs in STEALTH mode.

People only look at ricers because they are trying to figure where that annoying exhaust tone is coming from.

Bite your tongue! The only thing this has in common with the classy Quattroporte is the gills (vents) at the side.

Is that's not a comment with racist intentions to the Chinese. Remember without China's huge market the rest of the world wouldn't be so well off so give them credit. Just remember you're technically making fun of what you wear as well.

Anyways, this car screams Maserati. I thought with all the brands under GM one of the designers could come up with something better.

RICEMASTER hit it dead on. Toyota is a leader today by making boring cars that appeal to the average Joe. GM is in a hell of a situation right now. They haven't made cars that anybody wants for about 2 decades. If you took away their White Trash demographic, they would truly be sunk. (WhiteTrash and Rental/Fleet).

So now Lutz is trying to make appealing cars to draw attention back to GM. The Solstice, Z06, Camaro and the Saturn Skyy, and the ill conceived SSR. While these cars are somewhat interesting, they are not the bread and butter GM needs to move back into the limelight.

GM & Ford need another Taurus. The need to go head to head with Toyota by building a boring, safe, efficient family car.

That's pretty damned sweet-looking. They need to do a serious tip of the hat to Maserati in styling. However, it's one of the few American cars you might actually appreciate looking at. Not sure about the front air dam, but the rest is gorgeous. This car fixes everything that is wrong with the Buick Lucerne. Buick needs to do this now before all their current customers die, or the division will suffer a similar fate. Then again, there's always China, but eventually they'll get spanked there too.
