Well, looks like he did have problems before. But we don't knkow how he drove it before. And of course the most reasonable choice would be to call a tow truck but as he explains he didn't want to. Of course the engine is having some major problems. Fun video to watch for sure nevertheless.

At that stage it doesn't matter how you drive. One should never experience these problems on a $50,000. car. Heck! I've seen these young kids beat the shit out of Civics, Evos and countless others and they don't cost that much either.

I think Cadillac should give the guy a brand new Lexus LS460.

i agree i think that this video is kinda crazy, or the fact that an over 1,000,000 clk gtr roadster turned out to be a dud that was all over the news as well. the thing is here people are using this to say a brands cars are garbage, the thing is, this car has the same engine as a corvette, how many corvettes do you hear dying, and the mechanicals of the cts, and cts-v are identical the difference is some suspension bits, so "if" this is even true and im not to believe everything i hear like obviously some are....this has to be just a bad car, which has happened to every brand of car im sure, but hey just anothey way to say cadillac excuse me, American cars are awful cars....realistically having worked for a dealership before, and knowing off experience that its not just american cars that do stuff like this its japanese to, if a car has so many problems the company buys the car back, and either replaces it or gives them a new one, or just pulls them out of their aggreement, this has happened twice, so this is sorta sounds like bs to me

Being an '06, it's stil got that original 36,000 mile warranty, right? he's only at 12k? They still should have covered it all.

I would agree with most by saying we are tossing stones without knowing anything about this individual and how his driving characteristics have been. For all we know, he could not have serviced the car, race the hell out of it, etc. From experience, I would take in cars on trade, and the worst I've seen was an Audi A8 with a shot engine, and horrible interior wear. I have NEVER seen a CTS with engine trouble and we would take in over 100's of luxury vehicles in trade per month.

I hate these videos not because they may be fake, but because people use one example of something bad happening to justify their short-sighted comments. If this happened to a Lexus/Toyota vehicle, the Lexus boys would be whining how unfair the situation is and the BMW boys would be talking all sorts of smack.

Theres always a lemon with every car, I drive a CTS (not the V), and have had 10,000 trouble free miles.

My friend from school had a brand new 2006 Audi A4, got into an bad accident and the airbags didnt even deploy. They ended up giving him an a new A4 to avoid a lawsuit. Even the Germans have their issues.

The other day I saw a 2006 Lexus ES350 in a left turn lane with the hood up just as a tow truck was arriving.

Perhaps the car was just a needle in a haystack and it was a faulty Cadillac. I wouldn't doubt he ripped the (&^#$# out of the CTS-V. With all that punch under the bonnet and not a few times on a clear road at night he didn't put the pedal to the metal? yeah right. It's probably partially his fault and partially Cadillac's build quality or reliability.

Isn't that a Kia engine in it?? Even my Nissan Sentra with over 125.000.00 miles runs better. That's what you get when a company like GMC has to joing forces with KIA. What a shame!!

gee I've never seen a problem with a new German car, gimme a break. Happens with all cars, I've seen some nice German cars have major problems at less than 1000 miles. I love german cars FWIW. So why did he have to keep driving and continue to cause furthur damage. I understand the guy has had a horrible experience, but documenting yourself continuing to drive a car with rather obvious engine problems?

I had a similar problem with my LS1 GTO. The engine would knock like nobodys business, to the point you would hear it over the stereo. I took it in no less than six times with the whole "could not replicate" answer each and every time. I finally videotaped the engine doing it for an extended period, took that in and all of a sudden my lifters are being replaced at 5,200 miles. Magically the sound disappeared. I kept telling my wife that at least we were leasing and I hadn't bought the damn thing!!

They shld replace it maybe its just a defect or something like one in a 100,000. Like my uncle bought an S500 in 2000 he has been have a ton of probs they had to paint the whole car over even some parts started to rust . And it was his baby he prob spent $3000 on repairs and he just bought an H3 and he gave his wife the s500 and she cant keep it in the garage built for it because they ssay something the engine need proper ventilation lol and he hood doesnt close properly but she drives it. It was a good car built in germany just for them

the same thing happened with 1 of my uncles that had an S500 2000/1. He couldnt even drive the thing coz it was in da repair shop like hell! Then he sold it and bought a 2003 S500 , but this 1 didnt have any problems. So problems happen but dont blame the company for 1 sour grape between a bunch of sweet 1s :D.

As it's been mentioned, I agree with you guys and believe this just was a bad vechicle... something that happens with every model from every manufacturer.

But honestly this guy is an idiot and am not surprised the car gave him trouble. When he saw there was an issue, instead of getting off the highway and calling onstar what does he do? continue driving!

Even after he decides to call onstar, he decides to drive the rest of the 65 miles home on what obviously is a car that needs repair and is probably being damaged further by the driving.

He didn't ask for a tow-truck, he didn't get off the highway and he didn't ask for onstar to give him roadside assistance when he called... he just kept driving.

I'm not surprised the car gave him trouble because it's pretty obvious the guy's a prick and abused the car non-the-less.

The owner of this car probably got cash money by Toyota to make this video. Toyota got where they are today by not being an honest company.

A good argument for this car possibly being mistreated is the fact that this idiot continued to drive it despite its malfunction. Maybe he was hoping to catch a piston popping through the hood on video so that gm would replace the car. Does that seem reasonable giving its obvious suck. He just seems completely careless both for his safety and the others that were on the highway. This car is obviously a lemon and he should be compensated accordingly but that does not excuse his own behavior

The guy who made this video is part owner of Streetfire. Not only is this video wonderful evidence of how he damaged the car further by forcing it home while experiencing an ignition failure, but it's shameless self promotion. Many CTS-V owners (myself included) have never experienced a problem that impacted driveability, and this guy is making it out like GM builds a crap product.

He recently updated on the Cadillac forums that the problem was nothing more than a damaged underhood wire (which Cadillac fixed under warranty), but I doubt we'll see the first video taken down or an apology.
