New Engine for the 2008 Corvette?

With all the talk of the "Blue Devil," "Stingray," "LS9," or otherwise designated hyper Corvette reportedly coming in 2009, there's been little talk about improvements to the base model. Not quite. Frequent source of 'Vette secrets, CorvetteConti.com, apparently dished on the 2008 model. Aside from some new interior and exterior color choices (read the full account after the jump), optional Z06-style chrome wheels and some manner of performance rear axle, the big news is the engine. And that is, a 6.2-liter LS3 producing an unknown horsepower bump. Enthusiasts have suggested the revised powerplant will likely turn out somewhere around 425 hp, and may be party to such materiel as direct injection, variable valve timing and displacement on demand. All we know is that for those who just took delivery of their C6, progress can be a bitch.

Fully agree. I've always loved the vette, superb handling, great performance, supercar looks and all for a great (comparative) price. Unfortunately GM doesn't seem to think interior design is important.

Yeah but if you start putting european spec stuff in the corvette it wont be cheap anymore.Do you want a corvette C7 that costs 80k??????I do because I am not planning on buying one but I am sure that a lot of people don't want that.

I am a huge fan of vettes and I want to see them become something more than "super-muscle cars".

I think the present interior is better than the last car. But that being said, I think should try and out do themselfs for the 08 model year. Mid-life upgrade. After all they put the same interior in the z06 and I am guessing the new super vette. So why not upgrade the interior and apply the cost to the higher end models and just bump the lower end model a tad.. after all I would be willing to cough up a couple hundred more for a much better interior.. oh I should add if I was buying one.I like the vette but my better half doesn't see the point

Its funny how mere nameplates and origins cloud perceptions of reality. When Corvette has less than articulate interiors they are perceived as sub-standard. When Ferrari does it, its perceived as a pure sportscar that does not need any of that "fancy stuff." But somehow Corvette, which is less than half the price but with equal or greater performance, is less of a sportscar and should have precision interiors to go with it too. (Anything else?) Truth is for a little extra cost, one can have their Corvette fitted with full carbon fiber and brushed or stainless steel trim work. Special hand stitching is already standard for Z06 on its custom seats. But then some would complain about the price for this too and thus not add it. Yet for half the cost of the Ferrari, one could have their Corvette lined with Gold, silver and diamond studs! Its all perception. People are less tolerant of a plain, no frills interior on an American nameplate while some prestigious Euro brands slide by with this actually being considered a plus. Corvette gives tremendous performance value and yet still can't win the perception war with the Euro addicts. Nevertheless, this new SS Vette coming will run around Enzos for a fraction of the cost. If people want plush interiors, they can add this with the hundreds of thousands they just saved!!!!
