Nissan Spins the Results: A 31% rise in December Sales: Infiniti Up Almost 6% But The Rest of the Year a Disaster

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported December sales of 91,775 units, posting a 4.4 percent increase over last year. Nissan Division sales increased by 4.2 percent over last year on sales of 78,663 units, and the Infiniti Division, celebrating its best December sales ever, posted a sales increase of 5.9 percent versus the prior year, with sales of 13,112 units.

NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS · December sales for Nissan-brand vehicles of 78,663 units were up 4.2 percent on a daily-sales-rate basis compared with last year’s 78,397 units sold.
· The Altima had its best December ever with sales of 24,832 units, up 39.8 percent over last year, reflecting a strong start for the all-new model.
· Nissan Division’s total car sales posted a 31.5% increase in December over the prior year, fueled by sales of the all-new Versa, all-new Sentra and all-new Altima.

INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS
· Sales for Infiniti were up 5.9 percent with 13,112 units sold, marking the best December ever for the division.
· The all-new Infiniti G Sedan continues to build strong momentum with total G sales of 6,544 units in December, marking its best month ever at a 65.5 percent increase over the prior year.

NNA INFORMATION
· Combined December sales for Nissan and Infiniti totaled 91,775 units, a 4.4 percent increase on a daily-sales-rate basis, when compared with last year’s sales of 91,253 units.
· For the 2006 calendar year, combined sales for Nissan and Infiniti totaled 1,019,249 units, the brands’ second consecutive year of sales exceeding 1 million units. The Murano and the Infiniti M posted best-ever calendar years. Murano sales of 81,362 marked a 9.6 percent increase over the prior year, while M sales of 25,658 units marked a 7.3 percent increase over 2005.

I knew it was fishy by my tracking. I had to wait until they posted the numbers.

When they did we updated the article and exposed the "spin". They actually had a disaster year. Makes you wonder who did worse GM or Nissan?

Where's the bad news?

I'm sick of hearing about Nissan. They've lost their way a bit. Sentra is horrifyingly half-hearted, Altima looks too much like the last gen (not necessarily a bad thing), and the G35 has lost the magic that made it a 3 Series fighter. It's now just an also-ran.

Here we go again...more Nissan bashing as usual. Hey guys,pull your underoos out of your arsses and get a life! The Rodney Dangerfield of automobiles will probably never get any respect from a majority of you guys. The next-gen Altima was just released and the next-gen Sentra has been out for a few months as we anxiously await the arrival of SE-R Spec-V version as well as Altima Coupe,next-gen Z,next gen Maxima,next-gen Murano,and of course the highly anticipated GT-R(all aforementioned models expected to hit showrooms in next 12-16 months). Infiniti on the other hand with next-gen G sport sedan will continue to sell well as we await the next-gen G sport coupe,next-gen FX,all-new entry level crossover,next-gen QX,and of course the next-gen Q luxury performance sedan(12-16 month timetable on arrival for aforementioned vehicles). Why post the negatives with Nissan/Infiniti all the time?
