Building cars with modern technology maybe? Maybe just building cars ... GM is so busy slapping SAAB and Buick grilles on porky SUVs that they fail to notice that big SUVs are not in demand ... its all these "tall-wagon"/cross-over cars (or "segment busters" in Chrysler-speak). What do they have to compete with the CR-V/RAV-4/Nissan X-trail (here's a link for those of you south of the border who don't know what an x-trail is: http://www.nissan.ca/en/vehicles/xtrail/index.html )

I live on a 1-block long street, and there are 3 Ford Escapes in the driveways. They're selling like hot-cakes. GM is still concentrating on portly Trail-blazers with Chinese engines.
