Report: Next Honda S2000 To Have 4 Seats?

WindingRoad publication is reporting that Honda is working on the successor to the Honda S2000, which reportedly may have 4 seats instead of two and will be marketed towards a more affluent audience. Sources are telling the publication that the successor to the Honda S2000 will also have rear wheel drive, new mechanical specs and will look entirely different than the current model. Even though the car is now under development we won’t see a concept or production version of it for another two or three years, after it gets approved by Honda’s management. Since Honda is targeting the S2000 successor towards a more affluent audience, we can predict that it may even be under the Acura badge.

Keep the two extra seats out of that car. The last thing it needs is another two seats, which will be cramped anyways.

They are going to kill that name plate if they make it a sedan.

It would have SH-AWD, and it would expand the market by offering 4 seats not only from a passenger standpoint but also an insurance standpoint. Doesn't an 3 series convertible have 4 seats? What about the S4?

There is a reason that people buy two seat coupes or convertibles......that they only have two seats. And cars that have two seat-placeholders don't count (Jaguar, MB, etc...).

And yes the 3 series has back seats...but if you are over 5 feet tall it is an uncomfortable ride.

If they want to expand the market, build a new car. Anyways, that's what the TSX is for.

My S4 Cabrio has four seats, yes. All A4 Cabrio models do. The rear seats are good enough for two adults, but not for an extended period of time.

I guess you haven't sat in the new 3-series coupe's. They are bigger than the previous generation.

I also think that the TSX should have been a coupe to fill in the market for Acura. They are in need of a luxury coupe. After the CL was discontinued they needed something to compete against the G35 and the 3-coupe, a market they could have had a piece of even if they weren't the top seller. Ontop of that the TSX and TL pricing is too close that there wouldn't be a point to building the TSX. It basically is an accord but price jacked up.

It IS an Accord. Haven't you seen the Euro-spec Accord? Though the TSX's interior is different (and nicer), they look identical from the outside.

I was referring to the last generation 3 Series since I do know they made the back seat area more spacious. But coupes in general are not made for 4 person traveling that isn't going to be short.

And they may since the RSX is not longer in production. I would really hope Honda gives Acura the green light to either make a TSX-based coupe or a whole brand new model. They have to get back into that market if they want to compete with Lexus, et all.

Maybe to bring down the insurance cost down some,but other than that it will probably have no function,because it will be too tight back there!!
