Entire Ford lineup to get a revamp by 2010

Every single vehicle built by Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury will get an all-new model or a major facelift by 2010. Ford CEO Alan Mulally is keen on the Way Forward plan being a product led turnaround, and he’s clearly putting his money where his mouth is. Despite losing over US$7b in the first three quarters of last year, Ford is improving its outlook thanks the shedding of salaried staff and closure of inefficient factories. Mulally is confident that Ford can return to profitability by 2009.

Ford recently released a Lincoln concept car that showed a new design philosophy for the whole brand, giving us hope that there’s some life left in the old dog yet.

Maybe they will achieve this by becoming a manufacturing arm for Toyota, and by only keeping a few of the Ford truck lines, the Mustang and the Fusion?

I could see a stretched Avalon being the next Lincoln Town Car and a decontented Toyota Camry with a V8 perhaps being the next Ford Crown Victoria.

About time! The present vehicles they have are all dated by 10 years! Why not make a 4X4 truck to compete with the Dodge power wagon and a suv to compete with the jeep Rubicon!With off road ability! If they did it would be all stickers and marketing for all you idiots!,but you can only wish. How about make a car that can compets with the EVO or the subaru STI? I hope they can produce vehicles that can beat them all! Just to push the competition forward!

One of the biggest hurdles I see for Ford is interior upscaling. I know they're trying to save coin by reusing radios/HVAC controls in their lineup, but their controls just look too modular, too cheap, and too banal. Also, could they stop putting so many stupid circles/squares/squircles (Ford's term- not mine) "themes" in the vehicles. Cleaner lines, better materials, better use of LED lighting, and less blockiness would be a start towards a better interior. The trucks are getting better, but their cars need help.

Oh yeah, keep Lincoln and get rid of Mercury. Historical nameplate, but useless iteration of the same product.

Are you Martha Stewart?Interior, interior...I am shure you are right about interiors but there is a lot more to a vehicle than an interior. I believe Fords bread and butter is the F-150 4x4 and what is important to me is improved safety, fuel consumption and for goodness sakes make a truck you could go off road in! Those stickers don't fool me into thinking It could go anywhere.So I am basically saying the F-150 is a piece of crap & that it is only a trailer princess!

Truckmen - Ford is making an Evo/STI competition-worthy car in Europe. The Focus RS. If only Ford would follow GM and bring some of their better cars here.

ELSParquito, I wish Ford would bring the Focus RS here too, Is it as competitive as the Subaru and the Evo? I would be surprised if it was close.What is wrong with the people in charge at ford in not bringing the competive vehicles here (Focus RS)!The big 3 is lagging behind enough! Chev is getting ahead though.

Yeah, the RS is supposed to have a 300HP engine with AWD mated to a 6 SPD. Pretty decent. Instead we get the US only Focus that looks wretched. I got to drive a turbo V-6 Ford Falcon RWD in Australia and it was a fun ride.
