At least the Camry has good looks. I looked at the Citroen C6 and it isn't much eye candy. It is very nice though.

On a side note, visited my local BMW dealer today.
There was a M5 manual on the showroom floor. It had sold in 45 min.
He also said there was a big delay for the X5 4.8, because BMW wasn't building them fast enough for demand. The build date for a X5 3.0si right now is March 07. I'm sending in my order!!

Yes, I know the 3.5 is on the way, but, when I drove the 3.0 today, I didn't see much shortage of power, and didn't desire much more. I'm guessing there will be another price hike for the new engine, too. Fuel Economy? They are also giving me $1,000 off total price.

Oh, another interesting/strange tidbit is the sport mode. All every X5 has a sport mode, but not every X5 has a sport button. The sport button, only on X5s with the sport package, stiffens the dampers, quickens the throttle response, etc.

See where it says "M/S" The 'm' stands for 'manual' where the 's' stands for 'sport'
When the lever is placed to the left, it is in sport mode (previous X5s, including mine, have this. It holds revs. So my question is, if you have a sport pack x5, what happens if you hit the sport button AND place the shift lever in sport? Do you "over-sport"?

putting the shift lever in sport will only affect the gearbox, holds the gears longer. sport button does the dampers. some cars make in into 1 thing though, ie sport button does gearbox and suspension. you can do what you describe on a z4, if you get the auto box.

no, the sport button deals with suspension, dampers AND engine mapping, throttle response and gearing. The shifter mode seems to only hold shifts until a higher rpm. But what if you do both at the same time?

but really, if you press the sport button, does it hold the gears longer? then maybe the side shift of the lever only makes it for the manual change, but it still says sport because on some models it is the sport mode (the ones without the button). why should they bother deleting just 1 little S?
but then if you put it in sport mode for the gearbox, does it hold the revs? there'll probably be something so they can't clash.
ie press sport button, the shift the lever and it is in Manual mode (with all damper settings etc in sport). shift the lever by its self and it's in M/S mode (with dampers etc at normal). press the button by itself and it's S mode, holding gears, and including damper settings in sport etc.
you have the difference so if you are in a flood (or snow or heaven forbid actually off-road), you can still hold the engine revs and not put the whole car in sport mode.
and honestly, you have to shift the lever to the side because otherwise how would you use the steptronic function? how would you change the gears yourself? side to side? up/down is more convenient.
this is very confusing.
basically, doing both at the same time does nothing except you can now change your own gear. there won't be an oversport lol.

You know what mstangpny07? The X5 is one of those cars that don't look very modernized. You can look at it and tell that in 10 years it will look horrible. But look at the Mercedes S-Class or the Lexus LS. They still look good after several decades (in the LS's case, 19 years).

the LS does look dated by now and i wouldnt want to b seen in the last generation to avoid neighbors having a laugh at me.

The LS looks old, but it still looks very good for it's age. I would not want to be seen in an X5 to avoid embarassment from my neighbors when it gets old. You know what they say, don't you? The X5 got it's design from a Pontiac Aztek. It's true, look it up.

Why doesn't anybody ask where they got this list from, There is nothing that they point to that will tell us what search engine they got this from. They could even have just made up this like according to their preferences.
