DETROIT AUTO SHOW -Spies nab exclusive photos of Detroit Auto Show one day early!!!
Dear 001, On my way down to the 2007 North American International Auto Show at the Cobo Center in Detroit, my cab driver Greg was singing these lyrics from the Mama's an the Papa's tune California Dreaming:

All the leaves are brown - All the leaves are brown
And the sky is gray - And the sky is gray
I've been for a walk - I've been for a walk
On a winter's day - On a winter's day

Pretty appropriate words for a January day in Detroit. But I wasn't going to let the gray malaise get me down because I knew I had just scooped EVERY media outlet in the world with this early look at what's going on on the show floor, at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. And I couldn't think of a better website than yours to give the exclusive view to...001 and the Spies are without question the coolest auto website EVER created!

Can't wait to see your photo gallery from the show go live tomorrow!

Best of luck in 2007 boys!

At the dealer I work at I overheard a guy who was really set on buying the V12 TDI engine from the Q7. Obviously there wasn't much the parts guys could do for him yet, then he mentioned he needed 200, that the Mercedes TDI wasn't enough...man I wish I knew his plans. The look on the other parts guy's face was priceless

What was that Acura?

Yeah but, does it still have the famous Nissan clunky dash?

That's the X package for the IS. Comes with those rims, a front air dam, aluminum pedals, illuminated scuff plates and the sport suspension.

I want to see whats under that Acura tarp in a bad way.

It better be the new NSX, and they better announce a 2008 release timeframe for it. It's taking too long!

No, the Acura was that hideous concept that was shown before.

I'm excited to see the new C-Class, and the CL at that Mercedes stand looked conspicuously like BMW530i's car. Gosh, it's beautiful.

Love the Q7 V10 TDI, and I'm glad they shielded the R8 with that fancy yellow covering.

The BMW convertible is amazing.

Doesn't look like a video game car.

001, I like how you always include a few miscellaneous pics of the surrounding event area. It’s been a while since I spent about a week in Detroit. I forgot how desolate, decrepit and utterly depressing it is underneath that ominous GM building. Hit by an economic Chernobyl; what a sad, sad symbol Detroit is for the state of the American auto brands.

With that, what was it about Saving the Bell that gave every actor a lifetime ticket to hasbeen stardom? (For non-Americans, I’m referring to Mario Lopez) I didn’t even watch that show when it was on 20 some years ago, but I think I can name just about the entire cast, based on completely random "appearances" such as this.

Those shots also remind me of why I hate Detroit soooo much. Its a big cold, dirty, cold sad city. Cobo Hall is old and small. The Chicago Auto Show is sooo much better. McCormick Place is 5 times the size of Cobo, much newer a hell of a lot nicer and its in a much better city.

Hey propeller heads! Just got 50 BMW 335 convertibles in yesterday with Euro plates! Supposed to be here for some kind of photo shoot. 50 German engineers came with them as well. I hope those cars won't need an assigned german engineer once they hit production!
