NAIAS: Edag’s Saturn Sky Shooting Brake Conversion!

NAIAS: Edag’s Saturn Sky Shooting Brake Conversion!
The wacky crew over at EDAG Engineering + Design look like they’re following through with their promise to create a sportwagon lid for the Saturn Sky.

As you may recall, the company showed off a similar removable fiberglass hardtop wagon attachment for the Pontiac Solstice at last year’s show, and recently announced that they’ve begun taking orders. The Solstice’s 115-pound top runs $2499 rendered in ready-to-paint gray primer, and if sales go well, we’d expect for a similar MSRP for a Sky top.

We think that EDAG has actually done a more convincing job with the Sky conversion than with the Solstice, though both are oddly attractive. The Sky’s taillamp treatment seems to lend itself to the sloped backlight that EDAG has penned for it, though we imagine the angular back-end treatment impinges on the conversion’s already modest utility.

This conversion didn't work on the Solstice, and it doesn't work here.
