DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Honda Accord Coupe Concept

DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Honda Accord Coupe Concept
The prototype shown in Detroit doesn't have an engine or a transmission, but Automobile Magazine surmises that the next Accord (both coupè and saloon) should get plenty more muscle with its V6 engines, as signaled by the quadruple exhaust tubes peeking from the rear apron. More power should be coupled with more fuel efficiency thanks to the usual VTEC magic and to the Honda Variable Cylinder Management system (selective cylinder disactivation).

Not feeling this 100%, but I do actually like it! That is rare for me and honda design.

I was expecting the rear apron to be much lower. May be it will in the more sporty pkg.

This is really nice.

I thought the current generation Accord coupe was pretty dull.

Dear Honda design team,

What happened - you missed the mark on this one. Looks like a Hyundai Tiburon.

Honda can thank the design teams at Mercedes-Benz for all of their hard work.

The side profile kind of looks like a Toyota Sollara of the early 2000's

the rear end is indeed boring. very reminiscent of the nissan altima coupe that's been showing, or dare i say *GASP* pontiac g6?

honda:

1999 called, they want the nose to their r34 skyline back. they're flattered that you liked it, but its time has passed. you get an A for effort anyway.

Not bad, but the front has a little too much "Scion TC" to it..

The front looks pretty aggressive and I like it, although there are a lot of Lexus design cues in it. I am also tired of Japanese cars blatantly stealing the Hoffmeister Kink. (LS460 & M45). The kink isn't really that attractive, just distinctive, sad the Japanese decided to use it on everything.

Hmmm - is Nissan the baby daddy to Hyundai's kid? The wheel arches are slab sided like Nissans cars - so is the rear bumper. The headlights look very similar to the Sonata. The general contour of the rear 3/4 mimic the Tiburon. Wheels suck.

Bigger version of Audi TT. Just compare the two with the side profile and you'll see that it's scary to see how similar it is. Headlights are too Hyundai-ish.

Sweet!

Simple and clean can be beautiful. I hope the interior doesn't disappoint. I also hope for an RWD ala S2000 style -- unlikely :(
