R8 international pricing Vs Australian Pricing.

Hi Folks, I'm from Australia and new to this forum - I apologise if I am posting in the wrong section...

I have just signed up and paid my deposit to secure the very last R8 out of the 35 allocated to Australia. I'm stoked to have my name on it as there are only going to be 3 in my state.

My query is what price are they in the US ?

I have seen various posts of approx $115,000 USD, but I'm not sure if these were guesses. Can anybody that has either purchased or sold an R8 confirm the pricing please ?

Here in Aus they quoted me $250,000 AUD ($195,000 USD). Seems to be a bit of a difference.
Right hand drive.
Is this because of the rarity over here they feel they can charge this ? - well I guess they are getting away with it if we are sold out in Aus.

I think that the US dollar is worth more than 1 Australian dollar, Australian taxes (I presume). The price you quoted for the US R8 is a good estimate, nothing on price from Audi of America.

Thanks guys, $250,000 AUD is the RRP of the vehicle itself. Stamp duty of $16,000 (AUD) plus dealer delivery and rego are added ontop again.

I converted AUD to USD on www.xe.com to get an idea.

Are they actually out and on the road anywhere yet ?

No U.S. R8's have been delivered to customers, nor has firm U.S. pricing been announced. Currently some (most) U.S. dealers are taking deposits, though firm U.S. allocation numbers have not been announced.
It will most likely be a while before firm pricing is announced. The new TT is scheduled to go on sale this spring and official pricing for it will be announced next month (Feb) so, if that is an indication, R8 pricing is still quite a way out.

They havn't even finished determining who is going to be an authorized Audi retail point yet. There is a lot remaining to be hashed out in the US.

When my vehicle does arrive in November, I will be sure to give you guys some feedback and my opinion on whether it's worth the price or not.

This will be my first Audi.
