Nissan's Ghosn Wishes He Hadn't Targeted Double-digit Sales Growth

Carlos Ghosn, the ever-bullish CEO of both Nissan and Renault, says it will be tougher than expected to deliver the double-digit sales growth he promised for the second half of Nissan's fiscal year.
Ghosn stopped short of saying he will miss his target. But he said, "We should probably have avoided this kind of statement."
He attributed his outlook to declining vehicle sales in the major world markets of the United States, Japan and Europe.
"We were expecting the market to be better than what we've seen in November-December," Ghosn said of the United States in general.
The second half of Nissan Motor Co.'s fiscal year runs from November 2006 to April.
