You know what the saddest thing is? As cheap as it is now, any of you guys remember how bad it was with the previous Vettes? OMG I personally can't stand 4 spoke steering wheels. They make my d--k soft. Price you pay for a cheap price. Something else that should be noted is that you know for damn sure maintaining the Vette's going to be a lot cheaper than the Viper...

Does anyone think the Government will put a cap on how much hp a vehicle will be allowed ??

Don't get me wrong ...I'm all about hp, but I just don't want companies to lose focus on other aspects of their vehicles....

I don't think the government will ever take action against the HP wars that are going on now, and why should they? You can kill yourself just same with 100hp as you can with 600hp. What I think the government should do is make Stability and Traction Control Systems, as well as ABS braking standard equipment safety requirements on all cars starting in 2009. I think it is ridiculous that the Viper has no ABS or Stability/ Traction Control. Too many lives have been taken by the Viper, and it is a wild beast to tame without the electronic goodies.

But Mazman, i would not like to get hit by dumbass who bought a vette SS and can't handle it. The car is not the problem its the people who buy them that don't respect the cars or the general public enough to recieve training.

A limit is far far far to radicle, i sugjest that cars with a low P/W ratio (say anything lower than a Z06) require an addtional safety corse and lisence.

Exactly, I would rather have them crash on a coarse, than through my hedges (true story). Lesson learned money doesn't buy talent. Build the cars limit the people.

maybe its because i am reasonable, maybe because I am middle class, maybe because i have a good self esteem, maybe because my hoo-ha isnt tiny... but i see no point in this silly HP war. 600 plus horse...seriously? why? stupid.

actually... i am not married, i live in a loft downtown, and havent any children. this forum is fordiscussion on automobiles, of all kinds, including perforance cars... i understand this. what i DON'T understand, is the production value of a 600hp car. i haven't a problem with the over-the-top, egotistical, excessive, “imposing” manner of a car like this, it’s the fact that it now becomes dangerous and unpredictable, especially in the hands of the kind of fellas that buy this car. The type of dudes that purchase this beast are not because of the love of cars, the appreciation of design or power, but just to have the greatest most powerful set of wheels money can buy. There is little need for such a car used on the roads of everyday America. As you see by the many posts above, people who understand cars know 600hp is simply dangerous in the wrong hands. I love fast cars, don’t get me wrong, I learned to drive in my fathers 1978 pace car edition vette, which had a whoppin’ 220hp!!! But this goes just alittle too far.

btw... i drive a Hyundai Azera, hows that for practical?!?!!??!

Yep you know the "Horse Power Wars" are in full swing now, and no ones being shy about it. By next year 400 HP will be the bare minimum for perfomance cars, thats crazy, i like it, but its crazy. The compact SRT-4 has 300, its a compact, geese. Ten years ago 300 was something special. I think that their should be a "Low Power to Weight Ratio Licence" and training or something, cause now that more idiots will able to afford these cars we will have more unskilled drivers on the road that i would rather not get hit by.

Change the cheap interior material and a special key that doesn't look like the rest of the GM car line.

agreed :D or just at least change how the key looks like! I bought a new cadillac srx, and it has the same freaking key as my nieghbors 4 year old chevy tahoe! I think they intended to make the interior cheap to make it look like a supercar.

I can't wait for top gear to take it through its paces and see how it compares to the rest of the pack! Will it beat the evo around the track? Vett will have to have all wheel drive to make this driveable.

I don't think it will be a problem considering the regular Z06 already beats the evo around the track.

You are right Njshift! according to Top Gear the Z-06 lap time is number #13 at 1.22.4 and the current Viper's at number #40 position with a time of 1.28.5. I dont think the Viper will beat the vett! (The Evo's time is number #21 at 1.24.8).Will the Vett beat #9 the Mercedes SLR Mclaren at 1.20.9? Impressive!
