Larry.. your point is irrelevant.. the bimmer has a much higher relative price point.. normalized for price the BMW enjoys almost a 2:1 preference ratio. Even the chinese cant be fooled with a vw!

In China Audi is one of the official fleet car suppliers to the Chinese communist regime (on every level - that being federal, state, or local). No wonder Audi sales are so high there.

While, in contrast, BMW & Mercedes-Benz cars are mainly sold to the individual customers from the new rich upper class.

Caltrans.. obviously your college degree has failed you. please stop talking like a uneducated buffoon. please go to therellevant sites and option up cars.. there is at least a 10-15% difference in that audi is cheaper. that is data.. I used a 3, 5 and a 7. the BMWs are additionally a lot more expensive after excise taxes due to larger content being imported. SO accomodating for that, the difference swells to 15--25% difference given different models. Now if you plot that on a preference curve, you will see that audi needs to sell 2X the number of cars for every BMW. It does not. The slope of that curve is a function of how much people are willing ot pay for a feature other aspects being the same. You wouldnt understand, but if you do, I applaud you and you get it. Please get over your incorrect fact base.. its just not true. A brand study by Mckinsey here in the US said that simiilarly, it woudl take audi until 2014 to catch up with BMW IF BMW DID NOT INTRODUCE ANY NEW PRODUCTS AND STOPPED MARKETING. thats how powerful the brand is.

And yet, you're still look past the quite clear, simple fact that Audi sells about twice as many cars as BMW in China. To the Lexus fans, at least, money doesn't matter- only sales.

Of course, if money mattered, listen to the analysts. Didn't you hear that Audi would eclipse BMW in profitability?
