Ford Confirms 7-Seater Lincoln Corssover

Ford has confirmed to analysts that Lincoln will be getting a seven-passenger crossover based on the platform for the Ford Fairlane. Codenamed D472 the seven-passenger crossover, Ford showed off the vehicle during a presentation to analysts. Ford has said the D472 will go on sale in 2008 as a 2009 model year. No images have been released yet of the car but the company’s North American Design Chief says it will compare to the styling of Gulfstream jet (umm okay).

Ford has been planning behind the curtains to streghnthen its Lincoln name as a respect luxury brand and looking to compete with BMW, Audi, Jaguar and Infiniti. This new Lincoln crossover should give them a needed boost as BMW plans the X6 and Infiniti gets ready to launch a crossover at the New York Auto Show in April. What nobody wants more crossovers, build a big sedan, you know like a lincoln. Ford are you trying. Crossovers are gonna be another fad like SUV's, a RWD/AWD sedan never goes out of style.

Just anyone say Nissan Murano? this Lincoln crossover has alot of Nissan Murano design on it. But it okay because all auto company copy each other. Not to bad.

That's the current, MKX crossover (Aviator replacement). Where the hell do you see any Murano in it?

Sure, the grille stretches into the headlamps, but it's a much more conservative shape.

Something like this is what I wished the new Navigator's front looked like. I look at the new one and it feels like they started putting some effort into the grill, and then oops... ran out of money to spend... And their engine kind of blows too...

This is a good look for Lincoln, imho. I hope it's got the engine to match. Something else I hope they don't do is skimp out on some interior parts. Plastics in last model Navigator's interior are generally good, but the grey "satin nickel" finish center console and trim pieces reek of cheapness. If they're going to do luxury, they need to do it all the way.

I wouldn't consider this until Ford extended there warrantee! I would consider this if it was more reliable and got comparable mielage to a minivan.It is ugly! But safety and practicality come first! I could live with its ugliness if it were practical, and cheap! It is a Ford.

Is the chrome lining one the sides of the hood extended all the way back to the rear? I've seen that done on donks before, but not straight from the factory.
