1. toyota did not invent hybrids.
2. hybrids were not available 10 years ago.
3. audi/vw had a hybrid concept 15 years ago
4. hydrogen cars have nothing to do with fuel economy. bmw are not selling these cars, they are leasing them. they are test-beds.
5. i don't really think the original toyota prius was affordable, it cost a lot more than similar sized cars that had better fuel economy.
6. please name me one lexus that is more fuel efficient that a bmw.
the 320d is more fuel efficient than an IS220d (the car you claimed didn't exist because "lexus will never make a diesel" despite the fact they have for 2 years.
the 520d/525d are more fuel efficient thanthe GS450h.
730d more fuel efficient than LS600h. bmw X5 3.0d more fuel efficient than RX400h.

the case is still in the courts. I dont know how the justice system works in your country, but in the US you are innocent until proven guilty. The claimant will need to prove that Toyota STOLE anything.

Wrong, MDalle. A performance hybrid still gets better mpg than a comparable ICE, and emits fewer emissions. You dont have to compromise. As for better than Bluetec, I dont have the breakdowns of each emitting pollutant. You seem to but you did not post where you got your info from, so it cannot be verified. What can be verified is that Bluetecs are still not certified to meet the strict 5 state emissions requirements, which are met by all gasoline powered cars on our roads and vastly exceeded by hybrids.

So BMW is basically admitting that the hydrogen 7 was all about HYPE (One of German fans' favorite words). Meanwhile, Toyota and others continue to hone hybrid technology so that within 2-3 years we will have vehicles capable of 70-80 mpg, and the possibility of all electric ranges for some 40 miles.
