Bentley Growth Expected to Slow Short Term

Coming off a record year in 2006, Bentley says that we shouldn't expect similar stellar figures in the near future. After building 10,087 units last year (more than any other ultra-luxury marque), Bentley acknowledged that it's at full production and will probably see a leveling off of sales in the next few years. CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen told reporters in Detroit that they are still investigating adding new models to the Bentley lineup, but that the decision process is incredibly difficult because the image of Bentley must remain intact. That means no SUVs or small sedans, most likely.

I agree with Bentley- SUVs and small sedans don't fit the image at all. They're about big, brash, sporty luxury sedans and coupes (and convertibles). Smaller, less expensive sedans are for Audi and Porsche to mull over.

I think Bentley needs performance and brash technology, so the brand would be ideal for a powerful hydrid engine. I'm hoping for a GT Shooting Brake (sportswagon) with a hybrid engine.

Forgot that they used the same plant as the Phaeton - thus the same steering wheel and interior trim in the Bentley from VW 'platform sharing'....

Bentley should build that waht was in the beginning - portscars!

Back in 1920's they were Ferraris of their time. That's why ignore the Rolce-Royce past, forget about limos and cabriolets.

Keep building only Continental GT and GTC, make a new HYPER sportscar like sister-make BUGATTI and with this three models, next year will have even more than 15 000 units!!!

Bentley builds GT cars. I don't think you were alive in the 1920s.
